Chapter 68
Eric POV
There. It was out. I took a ragged breath as if the biggest secret of my life was out. Wait. Not the biggest. The second biggest. My biggest secret was that was a werewolf. “I can pay you for your time,” I added, when she blinked her eyes in surprise. When she didn’t reply, my unease intensified. “I’ve failed my last exam. Please? My GPA needs to improve if I have to stay in the team.” I pout my lips.
“Does this work?”
“What?” I asked, my brows furrowing.
“Your pout? On the girls?”
“Oh, yes, always,” I grinned.
She looked away as if trying to suppress her smile. When she faced me again, she said, “I don’t think I can. You can ask for another favor though.”
Goddess. No. I had no idea why I panicked, but I dropped on my knees and begged, “Please Leigh. If you won’t help me, I’ll fucking fail!”
Her eyes flare up when they go behind me. Suddenly, she cupped my cheeks and said, “Of course, Eric. I’ll do it for you. Anything Aww… you don’t have to drop to your knees to ask me.”
My eyebrows shot to my hairline. “Uhh… thank you?”
“Get up,” she cooed. And as if mesmerized by her voice, I got up. It was only then I realized Ethan was standing behind me. I looked away to stop the laugh that was bubbling inside my chest. She really didn’t want to look defeated in front of Ethan.
Nicole POV
“So we have a deal?” he asked.
I gritted my teeth and nodded because Ethan was standing right behind him, and I didn’t want to give that douche a chance to look down at me. “We have a deal. Now please get up. This is a library.” Honestly, I couldn’t help blushing when Eric got down on his knees. He needed help, and I needed him for my revenge against Ethan.
Eric took my hand and, to my utter surprise, pressed his warm, full lips on my knuckles. “Cool!” he smirked as he got up. “That wasn’t difficult, was it?” Then he sat on the chair next to mine and curled his arm over the back of my chair. He turned his head over his shoulder and narrowing his eyes, he growled at Ethan, “What do you want?”
Ethan gulped, but ignored him. He turned his gaze toward me and said, “Nic, can we talk outside? It’s urgent.”
“No,” Eric snapped. “You can’t, and she isn’t Nic for you anymore. Whatever you have to say, say it in front of me.”
I seriously didn’t want to talk to Ethan, either. After giving him one precious year of my life, he just fucking cheated on me. The thought brought so many memories of us together, and I felt a burn behind my eyes. Blinking my tears away, I said, “That’s right. I’m not going anywhere.”
Ethan took a ragged breath, running his fingers through his hair. “Look,” he said, “I’m sorry. Lexi and I aren’t meant for each other. She she approached me, and I got carried away.”
Eric tilted his head. “Really? That’s strange. Because she just approached me as well in the class. You know, she kind of spilled her fake boobs in front of me, saying that she was available. But I rejected that bimbo.”
Ethan’s blood drained from his face as he stared at Eric. “No,” he rasped. “Lexi wouldn’t do that.”
Fuck. His words were enough to reveal his true intentions. His admission felt like my heart twisted the wrong way. Eric placed his hand on my knee, sensing the shudder that wracked my body.

Chapter 68
Ethan must have realized his mistake. He tipped his head up, closing his eyes. When he looked at me again, he shook his head. “Nic Nicole, this has come out all wrong. Lexi is nothing to me. And you’re ” He glanced at Eric. “You are wasting your time with him. He is the football captain and is a playboy. He will fuck anything that moves and has a hole in it.”
With a dangerous growl, Eric seized Ethan’s collár in an instant. “At least, I haven’t cheated. What about you?” He shoved Ethan away from him, who appeared riled up.
“Enough!” the librarian’s voice halted the drama unfolding in front of my eyes. “Go out!”
I collected my bag, stashing my notebook, laptop and books in it, and marched out, fury bubbling in my chest. Eric and Ethan followed me. Suddenly, Ethan caught my hand and stopped me. “Nicole,” he said with pain in his eyes. “Please forgive me, baby. I swear I won’t repeat this mistake. I was a fool to let you go. But you will be a bigger fool if you allow him into your life. For him, you are the season’s flavor.”
I was shaking with anger. How could he say such things to me? He wanted to possess me. “You have no right to say that, Ethan,” I hissed. “What I do with my life is none of your business. I have moved on just the way you moved on. So get off my back!” Saying that, I grabbed Eric’s wrist and dragged him away from there. I stopped only when I arrived in front of the girls‘ dorm. When I stopped, I was gasping for air.
“Hey,” Eric’s soft voice reached me. “Are you okay?” he asked.
“No,” I shook my head and before I knew it, he pulled me to his chest and wrapped me in his big arms against his warm body. It was so strange that instead of pulling away, I leaned into him and my tears rolled out. “I-”
“Shhh… you may cry…”
And I cried. I didn’t know when he brought me to my room or when we sat on my bed while I still cried, but it was all so comforting that I didn’t protest. When I stopped crying, I looked at him and immediately blushed. I was sitting in his lap. Feeling a thousand shades embarrassed, I jumped out of his lap. “How did you know where my room was?” I asked.
He scratched his hair and looked sheepishly at me. “I might have done some research on you.”
“What?” My eyes widened in surprise. I wanted to get angry, but a laugh bubbled out of my throat. Eric’s lips curled up and I swear I had never seen such full and firm lips in my life. “Well, thanks again for saving me,” I said. “But I’m not teaching you sociology. That would eat up all my time for other subjects.”
“You’re welcome,” he replied. “But I don’t think Ethan is going to stay quiet, Nicole. He will come after you again.”
Fear cruised through me because I knew that was the truth. Ethan was possessive. “I don’t want him near me,” I responded, wrapping my arms around myself.
“That’s why you need to hear my proposition,” he said, leaning back on his hands on my bed. My lips twitched in a frown. He tilted his head to assess me. “See; I need you to teach me sociology so that I maintain my GPA, and you need me to keep Ethan away. It’s a win–win deal. Say yes, and Ethan will be history.”
I walked to my table, twisting my hands in my hair, wondering what to do next. “Okay!” I said on an impulse. “Be my fake boyfriend.”
