Chapter48
The night was quiet, Julissa lay alone on the huge bed.
The endless fatigue came over me belatedly.
What happened that night… looking back now, it’s quite unbelievable.
If it were in the past, the incident with Reece would never have happened to her.
Now, I’m starting to get the hang of it.
Perhaps she really let go.
Julissa thought to herself, feeling much better.
The night was deep and the dew was heavy. Julissa had just fallen asleep when she woke up again.
The water by the bedside had been drunk, and she wanted to go downstairs to get a glass of water.
Julissa stood on the stairs of the second floor, and in the darkness, the silhouette of a man appeared in front of her, straight and upright, against the moonlight..
Julissa had some doubts in her mind, those things that happened a few. hours ago were just impulsive actions caused by extreme emotions.
Now it has returned to calm, but more are the emotions that I don’t want to face.
The living room was dim and silent, with only the moonlight spilling onto the floor within sight, outlining the sturdy figure of a man.

Julissa thought, “Anyway, things between them couldn’t get any worse, there was nothing they couldn’t face.”
So she slowly went downstairs, not even stopping when she passed by Reece, and went straight to the kitchen to pour herself a glass of water.
Getting ready to go upstairs.
The man kneeling in the living room suddenly spoke, and his low, hoarse voice filled the dim and quiet room.
“Is your hand better now?”
She couldn’t hear the emotions in Reece’s tone, but Julissa, who had finally convinced herself, was feeling a bit confused at the moment.
She didn’t expect Reece’s first words to be about her hand.
She thought he should scold her, blame her, and say it was all because of her that Cristina couldn’t get in.
But he didn’t mention any of these.
If it weren’t for the fact that he was Reece, Julissa might have even mistaken this guy for a display of guilt.
But this person was Reece…
He must have had ulterior motives.
Thinking of this, Julissa stopped in the middle of the stairs, holding a cup of water, and spoke with a sarcastic tone.
“Mr. Diaz thought I didn’t get beaten up enough? Ask him if my hands are disabled?” Julissa said, shaking a water glass in her hand. “Sorry to disappoint you, my hands recovered quickly.”
Reece’s voice contained some dissatisfaction, but not too much anger. “Do you have to talk to me in that tone?
“Otherwise.”
It seemed that once Julissa started facing Reece, her aggressiveness was hard to control.
“I used to foolishly think that a man who caused me to be beaten like this would care about me.”
The last note of the final word fell, and a long silence filled the room.
Julissa didn’t want to waste any more time, so she turned around to leave.
The male voice behind suddenly sounded hoarse.
“I’m sorry.”
Julissa paused.
Over the years. Reece has done so many outrageous things, but she has never seen him bow his head.
Now…
Complicated emotions lingered in Julissa’s heart.
She was very annoyed, but couldn’t explain where the annoyance came from.
She ignored Reece’s words and stepped up the stairs, ready to continue walking inside.
I had only taken two steps when I heard the man’s breathing getting heavier in the darkness.

Afraid of another fit of impotent rage?
Julissa ignored him and walked up to the corner of the second floor. Out of the corner of her eye, she caught a glimpse of the man downstairs, his usually straight back now slightly hunched.
Long slender fingers pressed tightly against the stomach.
Is he having his old problem again?
Julissa knew every detail of Reece, they had been married for three years, and she still knows all of Reece’s preferences.
Including his stomach problems.
Years of high–intensity work and irregular meals had taken a toll on his stomach long ago.
I’m afraid that emotions were more unstable in the evening, and I didn’t eat, drink, or rest in the middle of the night, so that’s why…
Julissa’s reason told herself. “That man’s business had nothing to do with her.”
The footsteps, however, slowed down uncontrollably.
Thinking back, Reece used to come home laté at night after socializing, reeking of alcohol, squatting by the sink, coughing up several mouthfuls of blood.
Such a strong person, only showed rare vulnerability when suffering from a stomachache.
But that had nothing to do with Julissa.
She returned to the room and lay down on the bed.
