Aria bit her lip, her expression growing dark at his casual insult to her family.
She put down her bag and said quietly, “I’m going to cook.”
Aria was busy in the kitchen, her movements efficient despite her emotional turmoil.
On weekdays, Margaret would always stock the refrigerator with fresh vegetables and meat. In the past, when she wasn’t busy, she would personally cook and wait for Kane to come back.
Even if Kane didn’t come back for dinner, she would personally reheat the food for him when he arrived later.
But he never appreciated the gesture.
Just saying coldly that she didn’t need to do all of that.
For six years, she had tried to fulfill her duties as a proper Luna, but he had rejected every attempt.
She didn’t want to anymore, and now he was ordering her around?
Aria didn’t think much about it, she just wanted to quickly prepare the meal and get this interaction over with.
Just as she was reaching for the vinegar in the upper cabinet, her hand couldn’t quite reach it.
In an instant, a shadow fell over her and effortlessly took the bottle of vinegar down, Kane’s overwhelming Alpha presence surrounding her.
Aria could feel his tall, powerful body behind her, almost enveloping her in his heat and scent.
She had intimate contact with him before, during their mating cycles.
Once in the bathroom, when he had pressed her against the wall and demanded she submit to him, it had been just as overwhelming.
Aria suddenly came to her senses and moved to the side. “The food isn’t ready yet. You should go out and wait.”
Seeing her seemingly deliberately avoiding him, Kane’s amber eyes darkened as he pulled her into his arms.
She froze suddenly, her wolf torn between submission and flight.
“What are you hiding from? I didn’t see you being so shy when I touched you before.” The smile in his eyes carried a predatory edge.
Aria’s heart skipped a beat, her whole face flushing red.
Ashamed and flustered by his bold reminder of their intimate moments.
So was this how he saw their mating–as something to mock her with?

Chapter 29
“Not appropriate…” she managed to whisper.
“Why is it not appropriate anymore?”
Kane’s palm wrapped around her waist slipped under her shirt, and she instinctively tried to stop him, but he became more bold, his voice a low growl. “I don’t think I’ve ever taken you in the kitchen.”
She had seen the way Kane looked when his wolf was aroused.
When he wanted her, he always had this direct, predatory expression.
But just the thought of him being intimate with Seraphina made her sick to her stomach.
Rational and sober, she pushed away the lips that were trying to claim her, saying firmly, “I don’t want to!”
