After the banquet, I told Xavier everything I had overheard in the restroom.
He didn’t seem too surprised, but instead sank into deep thought, murmuring under his
breath.
“I should have guessed. There’s no way that car accident was just a coincidence. They must have planned this all along. Has the Cooper Family really been a target for that long?
Fine, then. If they want to play, I’ll play.”
Noticing the dark look on his face, I asked softly, “Xavier, can you handle this? Is it going
to be too difficult?”
My question snapped him out of his thoughts, and he looked at me with that same
familiar warmth and affection.
“Of course I can. You don’t have to worry about a thing. I might need your help, though.”

The days that followed were deceptively calm, but beneath the surface, a storm was brewing.
The once powerful York Family found themselves losing ground in several major business battles. Whatever methods Xavier employed, they were devastatingly effective.
Finally, after all their losses, the Yorks managed to track down the leak: me.
To be fair, the York Family wasn’t entirely foolish. I had been feeding them half–truths, mixing in enough real information to keep them convinced. But in the end, they figured it
out.
Fortunately, I had the phone of the previous spy, so I was still using her identity. A contact
from the York Family messaged me, asking for a meeting that night to discuss the next
steps.
Xavier, with his experience in the business world, recognized it for what it was: a trap.
They were planning to get rid of me.
That night, I arrived at the designated meeting spot, my eyes scanning the area. It was perfect–isolated by the Thames River, the perfect place for disposing of evidence. They definitely had something sinister planned.
As soon as I arrived, I spotted Annabelle York, her face twisted in fury.
She stormed toward me, grabbing my ear and yanking hard, her forehead veins bulging
with rage.
“Do you have any idea what you’ve done?”
I blinked innocently, shaking my
head.
“You really don’t know? Because of you, my family has lost tens of millions! Do you understand? Tens of millions! That’s enough to buy and kill you a thousand times over. Tonight, I’m going to make sure you know exactly what you’re worth.”
I glanced over toward Xavier’s building in the distance, the lights twinkling in the dark.

Annabelle scoffed.
“Oh, don’t even look. Do you really think you’re important enough for Xavier to come rescue you in the middle of the night? You’re just a stand–in. Nothing more.”
I couldn’t help but laugh.
She still thought I was a mere replacement.
Seeing that she was about to grab my hair, I stepped back, raised my hand, and slapped
her hard across the face.
SLAP.
She stood there, stunned, completely caught off guard.
“You… you dare slap me? Someone, kill her! No, don’t kill her. I want her to suffer–make
her wish she were dead!”
But no one moved.
“What are you all doing? I told you to-”
Her voice trailed off as she turned to look at her henchmen, her face frozen in shock.
“Impossible… why are the police here? Father! No, let go of
my father!”
Standing at the front, with a smug grin on his face, was none other than Xavier. He
looked at Annabelle with pure amusement.
“What’s the matter? Afraid now that everything’s come to light? It’s too late for that.”
Annabelle tried to argue. “I haven’t done anything wrong!”
But Xavier cut her off, exposing the truth with a cold smile.
“I’ve already uncovered everything, Miss York. All the people you’ve had killed. It’s over for you. Just confess.”

“Who did I kill? Where’s your proof?”
She stubbornly refused to admit it, still hoping to wiggle her way out.
Xavier chuckled darkly and pointed at me.
“Here’s your proof. Lucy is alive. She’s the best evidence.”
Annabelle’s face went pale.
I walked up to her and slapped her again, even harder this time.
“That’s for ruining my car! You may come after me, but don’t you dare mess with my
money.”
Finally realizing the truth, Annabelle snapped, lunging at me in a crazed fury.
“Lucy Ward, you’ve been lying to me all this time! I’ll kill you–I swear I’ll kill you!”
“You’ll never get the chance. Maybe in your next life,” Xavier said with a cold laugh.
