Chapter 7
As the door unlocked, the next second the babysitter screamed.
“Mr. Sterling!! Madam!! She’s dead! There’s a dead baby next to her!”
“What nonsense are you talking about!”
Lucas stood up suddenly and yelled angrily: “Who told you to curse my wife!”
On the other end of the phone, the nanny was still crying in fear: “Boss, I didn’t lie… Madam is really dead, and it looks like she has been dead for several hours… There is blood all over her body, and the child’s face is blue and purple!”
“Shut up!”
He roared, almost out of control, “You are fired now, get out immediately! I will let someone else take care of the lady!”
The moment he hung up the phone, his hands were shaking.
Scarlett came in holding the child, her tone aggrieved and delicate: “Why are you so angry? The media outside are still waiting to take a family photo of our family of three. When they heard you angry, they thought you were dissatisfied with me and the child.”
She said softly, reaching for his arm.
But Lucas suddenly shook her hand away, staring at her with red eyes, and asked word by word:
“Scarlett, tell me the truth.”
“That night, were you sure that Eleanor had really given birth successfully? She gave birth safely and was healthy, right?”
Scarlett was stunned for a moment, a trace of panic flashed in her eyes, and then she choked up and said, “Don’t you believe me? She did give birth to a child that night, and both mother and child are safe. Besides, didn’t I show you the video of the child?”
“Or did she say something to you again?” She said while crying, “Or…or I should just take the child and leave now.”
“How could I not believe you?”
Lucas immediately grabbed her hand and softened his tone: “It’s all Eleanor’s fault. That woman used tricks to deceive me again.”
But the worry and panic in his eyes were still there. He suddenly let go of Scarlett’s hand. “You and the child can have a vacation here. I’ll go back first. I’m afraid Eleanor will come up with some tricks to mess with you and the child again.”
He immediately quickened his pace and walked out, ignoring Scarlett’s call from behind him.
He sat on the private plane, thinking about what the nanny said.
“No, definitely not…” He took a deep breath.
“This isn’t the first time Eleanor has played tricks like this. This time it must be her doing.”
“She has such a competitive personality. In her last life, she wanted to compete with Scarlett’s child for the position of heir. She even ignored her own child’s safety and took drugs to induce labor to give birth prematurely.”

The person at the hospital hesitated for a moment and whispered, “Please wait a moment. I’ll go check for you.”
While waiting, Lucas‘ thoughts were already flying far away.
