Chapter 1
Chapter 1
Inside the sleek Maybach, Emily was breathless under Damon’s intense kisses.
Her clothes were gone, while Damon still looked sharp and put together. The stark contrast made her blush even harder.
He pulled her closer, his arm firm around her waist as he whispered, amused, “The soundproof divider’s up. The driver can’t hear us–even if he could, he wouldn’t say anything. What are you so shy about, hmm?”
Watching this usually cold, controlled man lose himself with her, Emily wrapped her arms around his neck, love shining in her eyes. Just as the pleasure built to a dizzying high, a sudden. phone call cut through the moment.
Damon’s expression darkened at the interruption, but when he saw who it was, he picked up
anyway.
Emily, still catching her breath, glanced at the screen. It’s Marlow, Damon’s closest friend.
“Damon, are you out of your mind…”
Damon interrupted, switching to perfect Italian, “Not a good time. Speak in Italian.”
There was a long pause on the other end before Marlow finally replied, also in Italian, “Did you really get married with Lea? What are you thinking? You went blind saving her, and she left you at your lowest, ran off with another guy, and almost ruined you! Now you’re back together?”
The words were foreign, but Emily understood every syllable. She’d learned Italian a long time ago–just for Damon.
As she pieced together what they were saying, a cold emptiness spread through her, chilling her to the bone.
Damon didn’t notice. “If I don’t marry her, her family will force her to marry some old guy. I can’t let her go through that.”
“And Emily? When you were blind, she was the only one who stayed by your side. She’s loved you for years–everyone knows it!” Marlow’s anger leaked through.
Damon’s voice stayed cool. “I’ll keep it from her. She’ll never find out.”
“How long can you hide something like this? Forever? Didn’t Emily want to marry you?”
Damon’s frustration was obvious now. “Cover up my marriage to Lea. Don’t tell a soul. Soon, I’ll get a fake marriage certificate for Emily.”
Done talking, he hung up, tossed his phone aside, and turned back to Emily.
Emily was shaking. After they finished, both of them silent as they got dressed, she opened her mouth to speak–only for Damon’s phone to buzz again.

It’s special message alert.
Damon glanced at it, then told the driver to stop.
“Emily, there’s an emergency at the office. I need you to get out here and take a cab home, all right?”
She just nodded, not trusting herself to speak, and slipped out of the car.
The black Maybach sped off, disappearing into traffic.
Emily stood there, staring at the endless stream of cars, feeling numb. The tears she’d been holding back finally spilled over.
No one knew she’d learned Italian, just so she could understand Damon better.
She’d understood every word he and Marlow said.
Each sentence echoed in her mind, sharp and heavy, cutting right through her heart.
Memories she’d tried to bury came flooding back, tangled up with the love that now felt so
hopeless.
Damon was born into privilege, while she was just the housekeeper’s daughter.
She’d first seen him when she followed her mom into the Raines family’s dazzling mansion–Damon was there, playing the piano in the sunlight, looking like he belonged to
another world.
She’d never heard music so beautiful, never seen anyone quite like him.
From that moment on, Damon was etched into her heart.
She never told anyone about her feelings. It wasn’t just the huge gap between their lives; she also knew Damon already had someone he loved.
Lea, his childhood sweetheart.
He never hid how much he cared for Lea, always protecting her, treating her like a treasure.
When he was seventeen, he lost his sight in a car accident trying to save her.
But after that, Lea vanished. She never came back to the Raines family, and soon, she was with
someone new.
The Raines family had other grandchildren, and Damon’s parents, Adrian and Yvonne, were always busy with work. No one had time for their blind son.
Damon was sent to the old family house, alone. It was Emily who volunteered to go with him, caring for him for seven years.
When she was twenty–three, she even knelt outside a famous doctor’s house for three days and nights, begging him to treat Damon. In the end, she got the miracle. Damon’s sight was restored.

Chapter 1
He shined again, rising quickly, and within a year, he was back on top as heir to the Raines Group.
Emily was the one who stayed up with him on long nights, who stuck by him through every hard season, who shared every kiss, every embrace, every moment in his bed.
However, she never imagined that when Damon was powerful again, the first thing he’d do would be to marry the woman who’d once abandoned him.
All these years, Emily had done everything she could to keep up with him.
No matter how much she changed, Damon’s parents never thought she was good enough. They’d even tried to pay her off to leave.
Damon always fought with his family for her, and Emily never wanted to let him down. She never thought about leaving.
Until today.
Now, she knew she couldn’t stay by his side anymore.
She wiped her tears, pulled out her phone, and dialed. “Mrs. Raines, I’m ready to accept your offer. I’ll take the fifty million. and I’ll leave Damon for good.”
