I was infront of the hospital when a black mercedez stopped before me as a chauffeur stepped
out.
“Miss Lavina, the old promise between your grandmother Julia Winslet and Madam Clarissa Stone still holds.
You are the true blood of your grandmother and the Stones are here to escort you back to you! rightful place.”
“Are you sure? I am not a Winslet anymore-”
“Yes, because from this day onwards you are the Madam of Stone Empire.” Before I could ever think of a retaliation, the tinted window rolled down and my eyes locked with the man sitting inside.
The Master of the Storm Empire.
Damien Stone.
“Get in Lavina, its freezing outside.” His voice wasn’t loud. But it cracked through the murmurs like lightning and the onlookers who have not seen the strikingly handsome heir in so many years snapped pictures like crazy.
I entered the car.
“The grounds of the agreement have long been changed.” I whispered. “I have cut off all ties with my family and you need not help them in anyway now. Plus even after I have legally divorced Alexander Hamilton I still can’t be with you because the doctor said-”
“-that you might not be able to conceive in future.” he finished, calm as winter.
I turned sharply, heart crashing into my ribs.
He didn’t flinch. “I know.”
Tears stung my eyes. “Why would the Stones still want me?”
He looked straight ahead.
‘Because I do.”
My breath hitched.
‘You were destined for me.” he said. “Even if the world forgot, I didn’t.”
And with that, he leaned back, his legs still, unmoving beneath the expensive wool blanket.
That’s when I realized.
Damien Stone couldn’t walk, he was sick and with each passing day his health deteriorated.
But at this moment he seemed like the strongest man I have ever came across.
In evening Alexander walked out of the Hamilton Enterprises, his face morphed to that of irritation as I left all his messages unanswered.
[Alexander: I am busy and might not be able to come to the hospital, just take a cab home.] Unseen
[Alexander: Why aren’t you answering me?] Unseen

[Alexander: Grandfather wants to see you. Don’t be late for the family dinner tonight.] Unseen A bad feeling arised in Alexander’s heart. All these years whenever he secretly posted pictures with Stephanie he blocked my social media handles often but I never once complained and answered all his messages within seconds so what was the reason today?
At this moment the receptionist knocked on his door.
“I don’t have time for this-”
“This is about Miss Lavina.”
That made him stop. He turned slowly.
Emma handed over a sealed envelope and a bundle of documents. “This just came in through express delivery addressed to you.”
Alexander frowned. He opened the envelope and immediately froze.
[RESIGNATION LETTER]
And attached to it was a notarized document of the shares, my 5 percent stake in Hamilton Enterprises that I sold off completely.
“What the hell is this?” he snarled.
“Sir, Miss Lavina has permanently given up her position to Miss Stephanie and she has asked to pass this to you…a cheque.”
With that Emma handed Alexander a note written in her delicate, unmistakable handwriting.
Unable to make heads and tails of the matter Alexander read the note again and again.
[This is for the hospital bills you once paid for my grandmother. I never had a chance to repay you properly. I am returning it now along with everything else I ever owed you.]
A half million–dollar check.
He stared at the empty chair across from him.
I used to sit there, silent during meetings, quietly taking notes and managing crises behind the scenes before he even noticed them happening.
He never thanked me, not even once.
“Sir?” Emma peeked back in, timid. “Should I… schedule a press release?”
“No.” His voice was hoarse. “No one says a damn thing.”
“But… the board will ask about the shares-”
“I said no.” he snapped, gripping the edge of the desk hard enough to whiten his knuckles. “Lavina is just throwing a fit.
Once I coax her well she will come running back….if she wants it so bad then maybe I will give her the secretary job back.”
“S–Sir then what about Stephanie…” Alexander’s veins throbbed as he recalled how he was going to get married to Stephanie in two days and about his announcement today.
“Stephanie is going to be my woman. Soon she will have the status of the Madam of Hamilton. enterprises, why does she needs to work as a mere secretary.”
It was at that moment he was completely unaware that his entire world was soon going to

crumble.
Alexander felt an uncomfortable feeling rise in his chest, I left the company yet why did it fee
like I was leaving him.
