Chapter 33
A week later.
Marcus asked her to take Seraphins to attend the experimental research conference, saying it was Kane’s directive. She had on this or a lang time and was no longer su jaised by his demands
That day, she sent a message to Seraphina using her work phone, her tone professional and distant.
Let her get ready for the conference.
Seraphina replied with a “No Problem“.
But when Aria walked out of the hoqital and waited by her car, Seraphina sent her a new message. (Sorry, Dr. Adhworth, you go ahead first. Kane will drive me there later.]
Aria glanced at the message, a cold smile tugged at the corner of her mouth.
She replied with a curt “okay” and then turned off her phone screen.
After Aria drove to Coral Tower, and as she got out of her car, she accidentally spotted Kane’s distinctive black vehicle in the parking area.
Seraphina emerged from the passenger seat, clearly having taken extra care with her appearance. She wore an elegant dress that accentuated her figure and had applied delicate makeup that highlighted her beauty.
Kane didn’t exit the car until moments later, his commanding presence immediately drawing attention.
He wore a perfectly tailored charcoal suit today, without his usual severe business attire.
The man who spent time with his first love indeed carried himself differently.
It seemed that he had been spending the entire week with Seraphina and her pup, right?
Thinking of that, Aria averted her gaze, suppressed the familiar ache in her chest, and walked past the pair into the building
In the lobby, she encountered an acquaintance–Dr. Rowan Sterling
Rowan was a pack ally of Prof. Kenneth Morrison, her former mentor, and she had interacted with him before during her training years.
“Aria?” Rowan walked towards her, still wearing his characteristic warm smile. “What a coincidence, are you here for the conference too?”
Aria nodded, grateful for the familiar face. “Yes,”
“How have you been recently? You look tired.”
Aria managed a genuine smile. “Pretty good, how about you and Prof. Morrison?”
“Ten doing well, but Kenneth misses his star student. He asks about you often.”
“Dr. Ashworth, why didn’t you wait for me? Seraphina’s voice cut through their conversation as she approached with Kane following beband her.
Without waiting for her to react, Seraphina looked at Rowan with calculated curiosity, then at Aria, blanking with false innocence. “Dr. Ashworth, is this your mate?
Kane’s gaze swept over Arla and landed on Rowan with predatory intensity, his oyes darkening. “Dr. Rowan had a mate?”
Rowan was stunned “Mate?”
