Chapter 72
Nicole POV
I jerked straight up away from Eric as my eyes widened in surprise. But Eric didn’t let go of me. His hold on my wrist was ironclad.
Everyone knew who Ashley was. She was the most popular girl in the college with beautiful hair, a figure to die for, peachy complexion and baby blue eyes. She was everything that a boy wanted. And I’d heard that she was pretty popular amongst the football team. It was no surprise that her face was painted with disgust when she glanced at me. fiut I don’t know why I didn’t like her presence near Eric. And that thought made me clench my teeth.
“Who is she?” she asked, scrunching her nose. “Don’t tell me you’ve chosen her over me?” She looked at me again as if throwing daggers. “You asked me to leave so that you could be with her?”
“Ashley,” Eric growled. “I think we were clear last time about us. “My words were pretty clear in case you’ve forgotten you may hook up with whoever you like! So get off my back.”
Ashley’s mouth dropped open. “Eric?” Shock and disbelief colored her face. “I’ve been waiting for you for so long. I’m sorry about the last time. You know I got angry because of the way you rejected me, but I promise I wouldn’t misbehave again. So if she is your revenge against me, I swear I’ll control myself around you.” Her lips quivered as her eyes filled with tears. “But please don’t embarrass me in front of so many people. They all know that you hook up with me.” She turned her head over her shoulder to look at the frat party. “Everyone is talking about how you dumped me and got a new toy for yourself. But-” She sniffled. “I know this is just a way to get back at me.” She stepped closer and sat down on her knees as I stared at her with utter shock. “Baby, I’ll do whatever you want me to, but please don’t discard me on a whim, and that too, for this nerd. When did your standards go so low?”
Damn. This was about to blow up in my face. I knew I was about to get so fucking humiliated in front of Ethan and Lexi. So much for being a fake boyfriend. Good, Nicole. This happens when you try to look cool. I should have never agreed to Eric and his idiotic idea of acting like my fake boyfriend to fend off Ethan.
I lifted my eyes only to see that a few peeps had gathered outside on the deck and portico to watch the drama unfold. I blushed furiously. My eyes searched for Brie, hoping she would come here and we could make a quick exit. Or better, the earth would crack and swallow me whole. Please earth,
crack up. Fast.
“Stop it, Ashley,” Eric said in a calm voice which sounded anything but calm. “Don’t you fucking create a drama out here!”
“What?” she whined. “Yesterday, I wanted to give myself to you completely, and that’s why I came into that sexy lingerie to meet you. Can’t you see how much I love you?”
“I am warning you, Ashley-”
“No!” she shook her head furiously. “I’ve been pining for you all this time. And you’ve moved on in one day? How could you do this, Eric? Did you forget
we had such mind–blowing-” She pursed her lips, looking at me innocently.
My eyes went wide like saucers at her unfinished sentence. Her words were so raw that a pang of jealousy stabbed my heart. Jealousy and embarrassment warred inside me like thick oil with grease. Not knowing what to say, I started to get up, but Eric grabbed my wrist and tugged me down. He pulled me towards him as I stared at him with my breath lodged in my throat. What was he doing?
Without looking at Ashley, he said, “I was never serious about anyone, but Nicole is my girlfriend now and I am serious about her,”
OMG.
Before I could say anything, he cupped the back of my neck and slammed his lips on mine. Electricity zapped through me. When his lips smashed mine in a rough kiss, my arms curled around his neck involuntarily. My fingers dug into his silky dark hair, and I parted my lips for him.
Our kiss turned passionate in a few seconds. His tongue entered my mouth, and he started exploring me like he would die if he didn’t, like he wanted to memorize everything about me. I was a girl who didn’t like dominance, but strangely, I wanted to submit to him. I moaned in his mouth as his chest rumbled. It was like he wanted to possess me and then some more. For a few moments, we were teeth and tongue and moans, consumed by passion. Fire erupted not just in my stomach, but it ignited every damn nerve ending. I had never felt this urgent need to kiss someone before. Not even Ethan. Suddenly, his sharp canines grazed my lip, and I squeated in his mouth, my clit throbbing with need.
When he pulled away, he rested his forehead on mine, both of us gasping for air. “Fuck,” he muttered. “What was that?”

Chapter 72
I wish I knew.
He had a dark expression when he looked at me. I think my lips were swollen because they hurt when he brought his thumb over my bottom lips and pressed it. He kissed me again tenderly on my cheek and then turned his face to look at Ashley. “I hope I’ve answered you. So fuck off before I make it even more embarrassing for you.”
And just like that, the tables turned. Dear earth, don’t swallow me now. And Brie–well, she was standing a few feet away from us, grinning with
excitement.
As for Ashley, her face had contorted like she had eaten vinegar, She looked positively and madly furious. She got up, shot me a withering glare, and turned on her heels, flipping a middle finger at us. Though it looked like she was gone for good, why did I feel that this wasn’t over?
And Eric–he was playing along nicely. I mean, his performance was excellent because it saved my face. “Thank you,” I muttered, still feeling the tingles on my skin from his kiss.
His gaze was dark when he said, “That was the best kiss of my life. Have you practiced it before?” He sounded jealous. Or was it my imagination?
“What?” I smacked his chest.
He laughed aloud. “Well, now that I have staked my claim over you for the next few months or years, you better play along.”
I knew what he meant. As I was using him to be my fake boyfriend, he wanted to use me as his fake girlfriend. I bit my bottom lip. “Okay.”
He tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear tenderly, sending more shivers down my spine. “So, do you want to stay here or go to my place to teach me?”
Through my foggy mind, I said, “Let’s dance.”
