Nicole POV
Eric’s eyes widened slightly in surprise, but then a smile tugged at his lips. I got up and pulled him to the dance floor. Honestly, the feeling of someone groping me disappeared with Eric. It was strange how he made me feel secure. It was like no one could touch me if he was around me.
We danced for the next hour, jiving to the tunes, in a world where only the two of us existed, I saw some people staring at us, but most of them were not interested. From the corner of my eye, I saw Ethan staring at me like he could kill me right now, like I had betrayed him. Lexi came to him and argued about something I couldn’t listen to, but Ethan glared at her so harshly that she became quiet, Later Ethan left the party, while Lexi stayed back. Not that I cared about it, but shouldn’t she also have left with him if she was so much into him?
My back was pressed against Eric’s chest as we danced to the last song. “The Night We Met” by Lord Huron. His finger trailed my arms up, sending shivers down by body even though I was so tired and sweaty.
“I’m tired,” I breathed.”
“Let’s get you to eat something,” he replied. Taking my hand in his, he pulled me out of the crowd and took me to the deck. The pool had become a place for depravity. Boys and girls were fucking each other in one or the other corner. I blushed seeing them and he chuckled. “I know of a secluded spot behind the pool. Do you want to go there?”
“Yes!”
He guided me to that place. It was a beautiful pergola with rose vines crawling over it. There was a nice seating arrangement with a large table in the center and two semi–circular couches on either side. “Make yourself comfortable,” he said as I sat down. “I’ll be back in a few minutes.”
I nodded. He gave me an intense look and disappeared. I closed my eyes, tipped my head up and put my legs up on the table, breathing cool crisp air. I couldn’t help feeling the strange connection I was developing with Eric. Or maybe it was my imagination. And why was it that I didn’t think much about Ethan in his presence? That made me wonder if I was ever in love with him or I was so stone cold that my breakup didn’t affect me.
“So you are here?” Ashley’s voice reached my ears and I snapped open my eyes.
When I didn’t respond as I stared at her, she scowled. Her eyes narrowed into slits. The fake smile plastered on her lips didn’t fool me for a second.
“So, Nicole,” she started, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “Enjoying your little fling with Eric? It must feel like winning the lottery for a girl like you.” She tossed her perfect blonde hair over her shoulder, glaring at me as if she’s the queen and I’m a mere peasant who dared to steal her crown.
I shrugged, unbothered. “You know, it’s been great. We just danced so well, skin to skin, body to body. That’s true love, right?” I grinned, but she didn’t appreciate the joke.
Her nostrils flared. “Please. You really think this is going to last? Eric is the football captain, the best of the best. You’re just… basic. He’ll realize that soon enough. And when he does, he’ll throw you away like yesterday’s trash.”
I raised an eyebrow, pretending to consider her words. “Oh, is that what he did with you? Must’ve been a whole dumpster situation then. Yikes.”
Ashley’s face turned red, and I swear I saw steam coming out of her ears. “You think you’re so clever, don’t you?”
I smiled sweetly as I got up. “Well, not as clever as you, Ashley. I mean, it takes real skill to be this obsessed with someone who clearly moved on. But don’t worry, I’m sure someone else will appreciate your… dedication. Maybe there’s a stalker support group you could join?”
She stepped closer, seething. “This isn’t over, Nicole.”
I patted her on the arm. “Oh, I hope not. I’m starting to enjoy our little chats. See you around, Ash.”
I walked away, leaving her fuming behind me. I couldn’t help but chuckle. If she was trying to scare me off, she’s got another thing coming. Eric was helping me out of Ethan’s situation. It was only right that I helped him with Ashley’s situation. Having said that, I was happy that Ethan didn’t stalk me.
As I walked back to the pool, I saw Eric heading towards me. “Hey!” he breathed. He had a plate loaded with food. “Where are you going?” he asked
bewildered.

I took a deep breath in, looking at all the food. Did he think I was a buffalo? “Your darling Ashley is there. I don’t feel like talking to her, so I am heading
out.
He shook his head. “Come on, we can have our dinner in my cat”
I chuckled. “Sure.”
As we walked out to where his car was parked, he said, “She isn’t my darling, okay? You are my darling though.”
“What?” I snapped my head at him. “I’m not your darling.”
We reached his car where I perched myself on the bonnet. “Oh, but you are my fake darling, aren’t you?” he asked with a raised eyebrow.
Haughed. “Oh right!” I picked up a roasted chicken breast and dug my teeth in the soft flesh. “Mmmm…” I moaned as the flavors burst on my tongue. “This is good,” I breathed. When I opened my eyes, I found Eric staring at me intensely. “What?” I shrugged. “It is good.”
Suddenly his thumb reached my mouth where he wiped a drop of juice. He took it to his mouth and sucked on it, watching me with the same intensity. “It is good,” he replied, leaving me needy like never before. My cheeks heated and I felt like my skin was on fire. As for my traitorous vagina, it was chucking eggs, silently inviting the hulk in front of me to pin me to the bonnet and fuck me hard. Shit. I suppressed a moan as I crossed my legs to stop my clit from throbbing wildly. My panties were soaked like they were crying because he wasn’t touching us.
His nostrils flared and his gaze went down to where I crossed my legs. “Why have you crossed your legs, Nicole?” he asked, as he picked up a sausage and ate it, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
“Because I want to,” I replied, clenching my teeth.
We had our food from the same plate in silence after that. Once it was over, he asked, “Will you be able to start teaching me tomorrow?”
I nodded. “Yes, I am free after 8PM.”
“Cool, I’ll pick you up.”
Just as when I was about to get in the car, I saw Ethan. He was standing in the shadows of a line of trees a few feet away. Hadn’t he left? Surprised, I stared at him and I think I imagined when I saw his eyes flashing gold. Quickly, I got in the car, the hair at the back of my neck rising.
