Ryder’s ears were ringing.
He looked again, making sure the woman standing in the center was me.
When he came back to his senses, he was already standing in front of me.
“Ivy, you’re in the wrong place. The wedding is downstairs.”
“I’m not in the wrong place.” My expression was calm.
“This is my wedding with Jasper Reed.”
Ryder acted like he hadn’t heard, trying to grab my hand, but I smoothly avoided him.
“Say that again.” His expression didn’t change.
He heard me take a sharp breath–he knew that was my sign of impatience.
We’d grown up together, and in both this life and the last, he’d known me for over twenty years.
I had never been impatient with him before.
“I said, this is the wedding between me and my uncle–in–law, Jasper Reed.”
The next moment, Ryder kicked over a nearby chair, sending some flower arrangements crashing down with it.
Petals scattered across the floor, their juices flowing.
“Ahhh!!”
Several female guests screamed in shock.
Ryder stomped on the roses with his leather shoes, crushing them repeatedly until he felt better.
“Are you kidding me? Just to piss me off, you’re putting on this act with your dying uncle–in–law?”
“Ivy, even after all the awful things you did to Mia, I forgave you. Now you’re pulling this stunt–are you trying to ruin my wedding with Mia again?”
Ryder thought that neither in his past life nor this one had he ever considered letting me marry someone else.
I could only belong to him.
Even if he wouldn’t marry me, he wouldn’t allow me to marry anyone else.
Especially not the man who was one of the people responsible for driving Mia to her death in the last life!
During the standoff, they heard the sound of wheelchair wheels rolling.
Even sitting in a wheelchair, Jasper Reed kept his back straight.
His face was pale, thin lips pressed together lightly.
Though frail, his presence was no less commanding than Ryder’s.
After all, Jasper controlled the shadowy businesses in the capital’s elite circles.
All the prominent families feared him by three parts, while waiting for him to die.
“Ivy, come here.” Jasper beckoned to me.
Ryder watched as I obediently went over and supported Jasper’s wheelchair.

He gritted his teeth, feeling like something from his ferritmy was being taken,
His eyes were practically shooting flames.
“Jasper Reed, what the hell is this supposed to mean?”
Jasper’s pale, slender hand covered mine, gently soothing.
“Nothing special. The treasure you didn’t want, I’m keeping now.”
“Mr. Kane, you can just hold onto your trash happily ever after.”
“You!” Ryder clenched his fists.
But then he heard someone else running in behind him.
It was one of Ryder’s bodyguards.
“Sir, Miss Mia just had an episode. The medical team came for emergency treatment, said it was insufficient blood supply. She’s been taken to the hospital!”
Ryder’s breathing skipped a beat.
But he didn’t immediately leave like he had before.
Instead, he said to me:
“I’m giving you one hour to change clothes, then come back to me.”
With that, he turned and left.
I watched Ryder’s retreating figure until it disappeared.
Only then did I feel someone squeezing my hand.
Jasper’s expression was calm, but his eyes held an inexplicable carefulness.
“Are you going to leave?”
I shook my head, my tone slightly teasing.
“I’m not leaving. I still need to stay here and bring you ‘good luck‘ with this wedding.”
At these words, everyone still present saw the usually temperamental Jasper Reed’s ears actually turn red!
Everyone else felt like they’d seen a ghost and didn’t dare breathe loudly.
He had been the one making demands just a while ago, but now he was getting embarrassed.
Jasper coughed lightly a few times and continued having the officiant complete the wedding ceremony.
After exchanging rings, he took my hand and kissed the back of it.
“While it’s true I lied about being terminally ill, there’s one thing I didn’t lie about – everything I own can be given to you without reservation.”
Before getting the marriage certificate, Jasper completed the property transfer.
But the arrangement between Jasper and me was a transaction from the start.
I told him secrets about Ryder, and he helped me bring Ryder down.
What’s more, after getting the certificate/he told me his illness would be cured soon.
If that was the case, shouldn’t we go pur separate ways once everything was over?
I was about to ask when my phone kept vibrating.
Ftornal Remorse!
