Dominic was well aware that by “someone“, Gregory meant Anatliea. However, he kept his expression neutral as he met Gregory’s gaze, revealing nothing.
“Mr. Sinclair, surely you jest. I wouldn’t dare hide anyone from you, let alone someone who means something to you.” Gregory’s lips pressed into a grim line as he stared at Dominic wordlessly. He didn’t believe Dominic.
With Gregory’s forces and the way they worked, it wouldn’t take more than two days for him to hear about Anathea as long as she was in Syntherra.
However, four days had passed, and there had been no news of her. Gregory doubted anyone other than Dominic could keep Anathea’s whereabouts hidden.
But Dominic didn’t look the slightest bit rattled. “If you’ve lost someone, Mr. Sinclair, all you have to do is tell me who it is and I’ll have my men search for them as well.”
“As if you’d do that.” Gregory scoffed, looking away.
A tense silence spread between the two men. Just as Dominic thought Gregory wouldn’t say anything anymore, the latter suddenly spoke.
“My wife.”
Dominic lifted a brow as he cast a sidelong glance at Gregory, who no longer hid the truth.
“My wife’s missing. I tracked her down to Syntherra, and seeing as it’s your family’s territory, I’d very much appreciate it if you could help me look for her.”
“Mrs. Sinclair?” Dominic’s mouth quirked to the side as he feigned puzzlement. “Who may that be? As far as I know, you’ve never publicly declared you were married. So, how is it that you have a wife?”
Indeed, Gregory had never publicly announced he was married. Any news of his marriage and his son stemmed from rumors churned out by the media. He’d never explicitly admitted any of it.
And yet, here he was telling Dominic that his wife had gone missing.
Gregory frowned, suddenly regretting his stubborn refusal to publicly acknowledge his marriage to Anathea.
Meanwhile, Dominic looked entertained. It was as if he were watching a live show.
He never thought that the intimidating and powerful Gregory Sinclair would one day have a look of regret on his face- and over a woman, no less!
Gregory naturally sensed Dominic’s assessing gaze, but he couldn’t care less.
He took out his phone and found a picture of Anathea. He showed it to Dominic and said, “This is my wife, Anathea Jacobson. If you have any news of her, please contact me immediately.”
Dominic was about to respond with a few humoring words when Gregory added the next second, “If you find her, Sinclair Group will be happy to collaborate with Lancaster Group for the two upcoming projects in Syntherra.”
Upon hearing this, Dominic froze. He didn’t think Gregory would put out such a handsome reward in exchange for Anathea’s location.
“How about it?” Gregory pressed.
Dominic’s eyes gleamed as he adjusted his glasses and smiled. “Seeing as you’ve personally asked me for a favor, Mr. Sinclair, I’ll do my best.”
Gregory nodded in thanks.

“But…” Dominic suddenly continued, looking conflicted, “If Mrs Anclair doesn’t want to be found.”

“She won’t.” Gregory sounded confident, and there was a steely look in his eyes, like he had enough leverage crer Brathee to make her go back with him.
Dominic studied Gregory’s expression and grew pensive.
After that, Gregory didn’t say anything more and simply glanced at his watch. It was a weekend, and he had to rush back to Castenea to attend the Presgraves‘ party later that night.
His gaze slowly turned frosty as he excused himself. “I have an errand to run. I shall take my leave then.”
Dominic nodded once. “Goodbye, Mr. Sinclair.”
The window rolled up slowly, and the car purred to life and took off
Dominic watched the car as it gradually disappeared into the distance, a contemplative look flickering in his eyes. He had a gut feeling that there was more to Gregory’s frosty look just now than it seemed.
Castenea might very well be shaken up by groundbreaking news tonight.
As night fell, a seemingly borderless ínky darkness spilled over the horizon, looming over the cityscape and drowning out even the barest glimmer of starlight.
