Chapter 164
The air reeked of blood. Gregory’s eyes turned red with fury.
Pain was the fastest way to awaken a man’s buried hunger. And in that moment, it brought every dark instinct inside him roaring back to life.
“Anathea,”
Gregory kept saying her name over and over again, grinding it between his teeth. Even though every syllable scraped raw against his heart, his eyes only burned with growing obsession for her.
“No matter where you run, I’ll be right behind you. I swear it, Anatea. You’re never getting away from me.”
“Ah–choo!”
While working on her floral arrangement at Syntherra, Anathea suddenly sneezed and quickly covered her mouth with her hand.
“What’s wrong? Are you catching a cold?” Fiona asked gently while handing her a tissue.
“I don’t think so. Someone’s probably missing me,” Anathea joked as she took the tissue.
“Bingo!” A lively girl’s voice rang out.
Just as Anathea found the voice familiar, the door to the ward swung open.
In walked a girl dressed in a cool little punk–style leather skirt. Her eyes lit up as she spotted Anathea and called out excitedly,” Thea!”
Anathea’s whole face lit up. She dropped her work and crouched down with open arms. “Chloe!”
Chloe Cole dashed across the room and launched herself straight into Anathea’s embrace.
“Chloe! Didn’t I tell you not to run like that? Thea isn’t feeling well right now,” Hannah said with a frown as she walked in.
Chloe immediately pulled back and apologized, “Sorry, Thea. I just really missed you.”
“It’s okay, sweetheart.” Anathea ruffled Chloe’s soft hair, then shot Hannah a look. “Come on. She’s just a kid. What damage could she possibly do? Don’t be so tense.”
“Still, you’ve got to be careful,” Hannah replied. “Even though your surgery’s already scheduled, you still have to take all the necessary precautions until then.”
“Hannah’s right,” Fiona said with a nod. “You should listen to her. Your health comes first.”
“Alright, alright,” Anathea replied with a smile, then grabbed a toy to play with Chloe.
Meanwhile, Hannah handed over some supplements for both Fiona and Anathea.
“Thank you so much, Hannah.” Fiona took her hand in gratitude. “You’ve done so much for us, even finding us this hospital. We really don’t know how to thank you enough.”
“Oh, Mrs. Jacobson, please. Don’t even mention it.” Hannah patted Fiona’s hand and continued seriously, “You can thank me by living well with Thea.”
Fiona nodded, then glanced toward Anathea, who was playing with Chloe. A flicker of something unreadable passed through her
eyes.
She tightened her grip on Hannah’s hand. “Actually, I have one more favor to ask of you.”

Outside, the sky had turned golden. The wind rustled the sycamore leaves with a soothing whisper.
Chloe, worn out from playing, was now curled up on the hospital bed with Flona, flipping through a picture book.
Anathea wanted to join them, but Chloe’s marker was out of ink, se she headed off to buy a new one.
Hannah walked beside her, arm in arm, just like they used to back their school days.
“How have you been feeling? Still nauseous?” Hannah asked gently.
“Not anymore. She calmed down the moment we got to Syntherra Anathea shook her head. As she placed her hand on her belly, there was a peaceful look in her eyes.
She had a feeling it was a girl.
