Chapter 6
The verification officer didn’t answer me.
Instead, she looked at Ryan in bewilderment.
Her mouth hung open, unable to form a complete sentence for what seemed like forever.
“Mr… Mr. Morgan…”
Ryan finally realized something was wrong and abruptly stood up, walking to the officer’s side.
He looked at the device she was clutching tightly in her hands.
The crowd began asking questions in confusion.
“What’s going on? What’s the surprise? Even if it’s a small number, it’s just zero, right? It can’t
possibly be negative.”
“Yeah, what’s happening? Hurry up and tell us! We’re all waiting here.”
They clearly hadn’t realized how unusual the situation was and were still eagerly anticipating the
results.
Meanwhile, Ryan was staring at me in disbelief, the veins on the back of his hand pulsing visibly as he remained speechless.
Under pressure from the crowd, the verification officer had no choice but to announce the result.
Her voice had completely lost its previous confidence.
“After verification… Miss Reed’s account balance is…”
“Ten billion dollars, fully meeting the bidding requirements.”
The room erupted into chaos, the noise almost lifting the roof.
Everyone stood up in disbelief, their shocked expressions almost comical.
“Ten billion?! How is that possible?!”

Chapter 6
“Did Mr. Morgan lie to us? Has he been making fools of us all?”
Ryan remained silent, not responding to anyone’s questions.
The crowd that had been eagerly waiting for a show now turned on him, demanding an explanation
Coral could no longer maintain her sweet, understanding demeanor. Her shrill voice pierced the air:
“Ryan, what’s going on? You said you’d make this woman disappear completely! You said all the money would be ours! Have you been lying to me this whole time?!”
Finally, Ryan snapped out of his shock, the disbelief in his eyes giving way to reaction.
He irritably pushed away Coral, who was pounding and hitting him, and strode over to me, yanking me up from my seat.
“Claire Reed, what’s going on? What did
you
do?”
I stared at him coldly.
My eyes were filled with nothing but detached indifference.
After a long moment, I forcefully shook off his hand and dragged myself up to the auction platform, the chains on my feet clanking loudly with each step.
“I place the highest bid on myself–on all my body parts. You all can consider whether it’s worth going bankrupt trying to outbid me!”
