Chapter 212
Skye’s POV
Another story from four years ago.
It seemed that four years ago, we all approached critical turning points in our lives. Was this some kind of predestined fate, or merely coincidence?
Human society has an ancient Greek myth about a hero named Amphion. He had an incredibly strong brother, while he himself wasn’t powerful at all and only cared about music. Everyone thought he was weak. But when enemies attacked, his lyre playing moved even stones, which arranged themselves to build a fortress around him.
I think Xavier is our Amphion.
His wisdom and patience far exceeded my imagination.
We all sat in stunned silence after Xavier finished his story.
Adrian leaned forward, elbows on his knees, his expression thoughtful as he processed everything we’d just heard. Ryder stood with his back against the wall, arms crossed, eyes slightly widened in disbelief. Lydia had settled into a chair, her fingers tapping rhythmically on the armrest, a sign she was deep in thought.
“So that’s why you’ve been playing the celebrity playboy all this time,” I finally said, breaking the silence. “It was all to make Thomas lower his guard.”
Xavier nodded, his eyes reflecting years of careful planning. “Every party, every scandal, every seemingly irresponsible
action was calculated.”
“And no one suspected,” Adrian said, clearly impressed. “Not even other Alphas.”
“That was the point,” Xavier replied with a small smile. “If other Alphas didn’t take me seriously, Thomas wouldn’t either.”
Adrian ran a hand through his hair. “In these four years, you must have found some excellent allies already, right?”
“Originally I had no intention of forming an alliance with you,” Xavier explained, his tone becoming more formal. “You were a small pack established just two years ago, and you seemed to have no connection to Thomas. But when I investigated Nadia’s death and learned you had dissolved the Gravestone pack, I realized your strength had been underestimated. An alliance with you meant gaining a powerful ally.”
He paused, looking directly at Adrian. “More importantly, I believed you to be a person with a strong sense of justice and principles.”
“So you deliberately chose to stay at the same hotel as us, right?” Adrian asked, his amber eyes narrowing slightly.
Xavier nodded again. “I apologize for not being truthful with you earlier. This secret involved many lives and deaths.
“I can’t believe you’ve been planning this for four years,” I said admiringly. “No wonder everything was so meticulously organized. We never noticed anything unusual. Your victory in the election doesn’t seem surprising now.”
Xavier responded with genuine humility, his shoulders slightly hunched forward. “Actually, I wasn’t confident I would win, Even after training hard for four years, my wolf isn’t particularly strong in combat. My brother’s Beta Darian honestly told

me my wolf isn’t as powerful as my brother’s was.”
He smiled slightly. “I suppose my years of acting helped. The Alpha King election isn’t just a test of strength. I had contingency plans if I lost. I would have helped one of my allies become the next Alpha King so I could still avenge my
brother.
He glanced at Adrian. “I must thank you for helping me during the first trial. Without that, I couldn’t have passed the strength testing phase.”
Xavier sighed, his expression growing more serious.
“I even prepared for the worst–case scenario. Before coming to the Alpha King election, I had Darian take my brother’s mate and their child to a secure location. They took all the evidence of Thomas’s crimes with them. If I died during the election, or if I was assassinated later while trying to bring Thomas down, this arrangement would ensure their safety. He looked at each of us in turn.
“I also instructed Darian to distribute the evidence to different allies if anything happened to me. Thomas wouldn’t be
able to silence everyone.”
A sharp knock on the door interrupted our conversation. We immediately tensed, exchanging cautious glances. Lydia rose from her chair, moving swiftly to the door. Her hand hovered near her side where I knew she kept a small blade.
She peered through the peephole, then relaxed slightly. “It’s Adrian’s doctor,” she announced before opening the door.
The doctor entered with a medical bag, nodding politely to everyone. “Just a routine check–up,” she explained, moving to Adrian’s side. After taking his vitals and examining his wounds, she smiled. “You’re healing remarkably fast. I think you can be discharged tomorrow.”
After the doctor left, Xavier’s expression darkened. “Be careful around all medical staff,” he warned in a low voice. “No doctor can be completely trusted. Many of them could be Thomas’s informants. My brother learned that the hard way.”
Adrian and I exchanged a look, a silent communication passing between us. His eyes softened slightly, and I knew he had made his decision.
“On behalf of the Oasisborn pack,” Adrian said, rising to his feet and extending his hand toward Xavier, “I formally accept your alliance.”
Xavier grasped his hand firmly, relief visibly washing over his features.
Ryder stepped forward from his position against the wall, placing his hand on top of theirs. “Alpha Xavier, if there’s anything you need help with, I’m willing to risk everything for you. We can’t let Alpha Damon’s sacrifice be in vain.”
Lydia and I moved forward too, adding our hands to the stack. “Many of us in the Oasisborn pack have experienced life as lone wolves,” I said, feeling a surge of conviction. “If we allow Thomas to persecute lone wolves, many innocent werewolves will die. We must send him to prison.”
Xavier’s eyes glistened with unshed tears as he smiled at us. “Thank you all,” he said, his voice slightly hoarse with
emotion.
He cleared his throat and continued, “Actually, there’s one more thing I wanted to tell you today.” He turned toward Lydia, whose expression registered surprise.
“I’ve already contacted a doctor for Lydia.”
