The words made my mind wander, my fingers stumbling over the keys.
Julian came up behind me. He wore a simple white robe, open to reveal the broad expanse of his chest. Th room was unlit, but the moonlight spilling through the window bathed his skin in a warm, pearlescent glow
an irresistible invitation.
“You’ve made so many mistakes, Elara. It seems I have failed as your teacher. How should I punish you?”
His voice was a low murmur right next to my ear, the sound tightening around me like a velvet rope.
[Aaaaaah, I’m dead!]

His palm covered the back of my hand, his fingers lacing with mine, holding them tight against the keys. Hi
body was unusually hot.
“Cou… Cousin…”
“Say it again,” he coaxed.
“Cousin, Cousin…”
My fingers spasmed, an echo of the tremor deep in my soul.
In the dim light, I could just make out a black silk blindfold covering his eyes. I reached up to touch it. “Why are you covering your eyes?”
“So I can hear every mistake you make, and punish you accordingly,” he said, his voice rough as he evaded
my touch.
The comments were frantic.
[He’s lying! His ‘fever‘ acts up every fifteenth, and he needs Elara to soothe it. He’s afraid if he looks at you he’ll lose control completely!]

“How do you want to punish me, Cousin?”
The poison was gone from my body, but my blood was still singing with heat.
“Sit in my lap and play,” he commanded, his voice a cool, husky order.
