Chapter 19
Lina stood before the floor to ceiling windows in E&H’s top floor, overlooking the entire city.
The glass reflected her silhouette as she held a glass of red wine, the dark liquid swirling gently–reminiscent of the blood pool she’d once collapsed in.
Her assistant knocked and entered, respectfully presenting a document: “Ms. Lina, Chase Industries‘ stock has dropped another 5%. The market generally disapproves of Mr. Chase’s recent decisions.”
Lina accepted the file, a cold smile touching her lips.
“Excellent.”
She reviewed Chase’s recent financial reports, her finger lightly tapping one particular line of figures.
To cover the funds Stella had embezzled, Dominic had already sold significant personal assets.
“Continue selling our Chase bonds,” she closed the file, her voice calm.
The assistant hesitated: “But… if Chase collapses too quickly, we’ll also lose part of our investment.”
Lina looked up, a sharp light flashing in her eyes: “It doesn’t matter. I don’t care.”
She only cared about watching Dominic lose everything he once valued, just as she had lost everything.
At Chase Industries, Dominic stared intensely at his computer screen. The stock price plummeted while
shareholders‘ calls flooded in.
Irritated beyond measure, he simply muted his phone.
‘Find out who’s behind this,” he coldly instructed his assistant.
Jackson’s forehead beaded with sweat: “We’ve tried… the funds trace back to a Swiss investment firm with deep connections. We can’t identify the actual controller yet.”
Dominic frowned, suddenly asking: “Company name?”
‘E&H.”
He repeated the name to himself, seeming to realize something as his pupils trembled.
Emma Hayes.
His pupils contracted sharply, fingers unconsciously tightening around his pen until ink soaked through the
document.

Chapter 19
Could it be her?
Had she returned?
Lina sat in a private dining room across from Theodore Marsh, Chase Industries‘ former financial director.
Theodore wrung his hands nervously, his gaze shifting: “Ms. Hayes, about the conditions you promised…”
Lina smiled lightly, sliding across a check: “This is your deposit. After completion, you’ll receive the remainder.”
Theodore greedily eyed the figure, nodding repeatedly: “Rest assured, Dominic Chase is planning to mortgage core patents to stabilize stock prices. If I just manipulate things slightly…”
“No,” Lina interrupted, her voice soft yet unyielding. “I want you to help him.”
Theodore startled: “What?”
“Help stabilize his stock price, let him believe the crisis is over,” she sipped her wine, cold light filling her eyes. “Then, when he’s most relaxed…”
“Strike fatally.”
The next day, Dominic studied the suddenly stabilized stock price, his brow furrowed.
“We found out Director Marsh contacted several institutions for capital injection,” Jackson reported.
Theodore Marsh?
Dominic pondered briefly, then laughed coldly: “Where did he get such connections?”
Jackson shook his head: “Unclear, but the funds have arrived, temporarily relieving our pressure.”
Dominic walked to the window, the city lights glimmering in the darkness.
But something still felt off to him.
“Investigate,” he turned, his face showing no relief despite the stock recovery. “Find out which institutions Theodore contacted, quickly.”
Outside, the night deepened–like the calm before a storm.
Lina accepted the document Shane handed her, glancing at it before smiling faintly: “Dominic Chase is suspicious,
as expected.”
Shane raised an eyebrow: “Time to close the trap?”
“Not yet,” she closed the file, gazing at the night sky through the window. “I want him to come begging to me.”
