Chapter 20
Sure enough, Dominic’s intuition proved correct.
Just as Chase Industries‘ stock stabilized, those institutions simultaneously withdrew their investments as if coordinated. The stock plummeted to historic lows.
Dominic stood before the window, his hand gradually clenching.
Behind him, his assistant barely dared breathe.
“Where’s Theodore Marsh?”
“He’s… unreachable.”
With those words, deadly silence filled the office. Jackson’s forehead dripped with sweat as he contemplated his findings, certain that revealing them would end his career.
“Have you identified the parent companies of those institutions?”
Here it comes.
Jackson closed his eyes briefly, placing his materials on the desk: “Mr. Chase, our investigation shows these institutions belong to different companies, but all those companies… are ultimately owned by E&H.”
Hearing this, Dominic felt an odd sense of confirmation.
His instinct told him E&H was Emma.
Emma had come for revenge.
If that was the case…
Dominic stood outside E&H’s building, his suit wrinkled, bloodshot eyes revealing his exhaustion.
He’d been waiting there for three days.
The receptionist politely but coldly rejected each appointment request, security guards intercepting every attempt to
enter.
But he couldn’t wait any longer.
“Move,” his voice was terrifyingly low.
Before the guard could react, Dominic shoved him aside, storming toward the elevator.

Chapter 20
Today he must see Emma!
The top floor office door burst open.
Lina sat by the floor–to–ceiling window, her back to him, pen slashing a decisive mark across a document.
“Mr. Chase,” she didn’t turn, her voice steady. “Trespassing is grounds for calling the police.”
Dominic’s breath caught.
That voice… he’d heard countless times in dreams, now so close yet cold as a stranger’s.
“Emma…” his voice rasped as he stepped forward. “I know it’s you.”
Lina finally turned.
Sunlight poured from behind, outlining her slender silhouette. Her makeup was immaculate, that figure who once cried for him seemingly vanished.
“Lina,” she corrected, finger tapping the nameplate on her desk. “Or you may address me as ‘Ms. Hayes.“”
Dominic’s chest heaved violently.
“I’ve uncovered everything about Stella Reed!” He strode forward, hands bracing on her desk. “It was her… orchestrating those schemes, constantly deceiving me! I truly believed that thug was someone you hired to hurt
her…”
Lina watched him silently, her eyes utterly calm.
Dominic’s voice grew increasingly quiet: “If I’d known it was you… how could I possibly…”
“Possibly what?” Lina suddenly smiled. “How could you possibly push me into that pool with your own hands? How could you possibly break my ribs with an iron rod? Or how could you possibly crush my fingers beneath your heel?”
She picked up a remote, pressing it lightly.
The office projector screen descended, showing footage of the sack slipping to reveal Emma’s blood–streaked, pale
face.
While Dominic watched dispassionately, Stella stood behind him, a satisfied smile playing at her lips.
As well as footage of Emma’s body curling into itself when the iron rod struck, accompanied by her faint whimpers of pain.
Dominic’s face instantly drained of color.
“Shall I continue playing?” Lina rested her chin on her hand, her tone casual. “I have plenty more. Like the segment where you embraced Stella, letting her call you ‘honey‘?”

Dominic was speechless. Looking at her cold expression, he suddenly dropped to his knees.
“I’m sorry…” his voice shook, fingers gripping the edge of her desk. “I truly… didn’t know…”
Lina looked down at him, suddenly finding it laughable.
The once–mighty Dominic Chase now knelt before her, like a beaten dog.
