Chapter 12
Later, when the scar on my wrist had completely faded, Alexander took me to choose a wedding dress.
Outside the bridal shop, after all this time, Ryan appeared before me with a bouquet of white lisianthus.
“Evelyn, I’m not marrying Chloe anymore. These past weeks have made me realize my true feelings–I only love
you!”
I turned away in disgust. Seeing Ryan brought back vivid images of him kneeling and proposing to Chloe on my birthday.
Now he was using lips that had kissed another woman to tell me I was the one he truly loved. How ridiculous!
I couldn’t even be bothered to look at him. With his unshaven face and disheveled appearance, Ryan couldn’t compare to even a strand of Alexander’s hair.
I took Alexander’s arm and tried to walk past, but Ryan ran over and grabbed my wrist.
He thrust medical records into my face, desperately explaining, “Chloe never had bone cancer! She lied to us! Had I known she wasn’t sick, I would never have agreed to marry her!”
“Evelyn, please, just look! Look at this! I’m not lying to you!”
Seeing his bloodshot eyes and tearful pleas, Alexander quickly pulled Ryan’s hand away from me, worried I might feel sympathy.
“Ryan, I suggest you show some respect and abandon any inappropriate thoughts about my wife!”
I brushed away the meaningless papers Ryan was holding in front of me.
Whether Chloe’s illness was real or fake was irrelevant to me now. The things Ryan had done couldn’t be erased by these fake medical records, and I couldn’t pretend nothing had happened and return to him.
Ryan’s expectations were completely delusional.
The medical records scattered across the ground.
Noticing Alexander’s jealous expression, I moved closer to him, stepping over the fallen papers without giving Ryan another glance.
When Ryan had once thrown resignation papers and documents in my face, did he ever imagine there would come a day when he would be on his knees, red–eyed, begging for my forgiveness?
Time cannot be reversed, and I could never forgive him. But hating someone also wastes my energy, so the best solution was to treat Ryan as a stranger.
Still not giving up, Ryan scrambled to his feet and lunged at Alexander with his fists. “It’s all your fault! You’re

stealing Evelyn from me!”
Alexander let go of my hand to protect me and was knocked to the ground by Ryan’s attack.
I quickly called for security guards outside the bridal shop. This was a high–end private boutique catering to wealthy
clients, and they had both the responsibility and obligation to protect their customers.
Ryan was promptly subdued by security personnel and pinned to the ground.
I didn’t spare him a glance, rushing instead to help Alexander up, my eyes filled with concern.
Through the crowd, Ryan finally understood that there was no longer any place for him in my eyes or my heart.
He had lost the girl who once had eyes only for him.
And I?
I had found someone whose heart and eyes were filled with only me.
