Chapter 4
I instinctively clutched the train ticket in my hand and pulled Lily behind me.
“Where I go is none of your business. You have no right to control me, Aiden.” I deliberately emphasized his name.
Zane’s expression shifted slightly, but he quickly continued, “Arya is pregnant and needs someone to take care of her. You can handle the household duties like before, and the family won’t let you go hungry.”
I stared at him coldly. “Zane is dead. As an outsider, I wouldn’t dare stay in your house any longer. Lily and I are insignificant anyway. Arya is your wife–you should take care of her yourself.”
With that, I turned to leave with Lily.
However, Zane strode forward and suddenly snatched the ticket from my hand. He tore it to pieces and said with finality, “Claire, I’m doing this for your own good. How would you and Lily survive out there? Stay home–at least you won’t starve to
death.”
Looking at the scattered paper fragments on the ground, my body trembled with rage.
I shoved him hard and shouted, “You know I’m your brother’s

wife. So stay away from me!”

Not only did he not step back, but he moved even closer, maintaining his condescending attitude with obvious impatience. “You’d better know your place. I’m letting you stay in the house—what more do you want?”
I found it utterly ridiculous. In my previous life, I had desperately begged Zane to save Lily, but he had allowed Mary to throw us out. Now that I was choosing to leave voluntarily, they were doing everything to stop me.
“You’re my husband’s brother. I can leave whenever I want— what right do you have to stop me?”
He frowned, his tone becoming somewhat conciliatory. “Are you really this heartless? Zane just died, and you can’t wait to leave. Fine, I’ll take care of you then. You just need a man, don’t you? I can treat you as my wife, and Arya’s child can be your child
too…”
Before he could finish, I was already furious and slapped him with all my strength.
Zane’s head snapped to the side, caught off guard, and his face immediately darkened.
“You’re insane!” he growled. “You’re not going anywhere today!”
He grabbed my wrist and forcibly pushed me toward the house.

I gritted my teeth and struggled desperately.

Just as we were locked in this struggle, a commotion suddenly erupted outside, and the door was violently pushed open.
Seeing who had arrived, Zane froze instantly.
