“Sure, I’ll walk you out,” Nolan said hurriedly.
Felix shot Megan a knowing glance and said, “No need for that. You’ve got some ‘housekeeping‘ to sort out.”
After an awkward pause, Nolan turned helplessly to Megan, only to hear her blurt out in a tear–choked, trembling voice, “Mr. Hall, even if you don’t believe me, what about Ellie? That creep has his eyes on her too! If you don’t believe me, just ask Ellie.”
Hearing this, both Nolan and Felix, who were nearly at the office door, whipped around and demanded in unison, “What the hell did you just say?
Megan was startled by their sudden outburst and cold expressions, momentarily frozen in place and at a loss for words.
Felix rushed over and demanded angrily, “Are you saying that bastard is hitting on my buddy’s woman?”
Megan shrank under his piercing gaze and stammered, “Actually… uh, it was just talk.”
“Even just flirting is unacceptable.” Felix became solemn, a complete 180 from the guy who’d just shrugged and said nothing was wrong with just keeping someone else company. Anyone watching might’ve thought he was a cop, bursting with righteous fury.
Nolan was absolutely livid. “That guy must have a death wish. How dare he even think about lusting after Eliana?” He’d always treated Eliana like his own little sister, so anyone who tried anything with her could expect to be knocked out by his fist.
Suddenly, Felix stopped in his tracks. With a sly grin, he said, “Mr. Hall, I just had an idea. Care to hear me out?”
After exchanging a knowing glance, Eliana and Megan silently offered a mental prayer for Noah’s impending doom.
A week flew by. After Theodore’s morning workout, he saw that Eliana was already awake. With feigned nonchalance, he asked, “Mrs. Russell, there’s a little get–together in Vermont today. Would you like to go and have some fun?”

All Theodore wanted was for her to truly relax. “I’ve had someone prepare the scuba gear for you,” he said gently

Eliana felt a flicker of interest at his offer.
Theodore continued gently, “Besides, have you ever really seen what it’s like under the sea?”
“Yeah,” Eliana teased, “but only on TV and at the aquarium.”
Seeing the longing in her eyes, Theodore said fondly, “Well then, this time I’ll take you to see the real ocean for yourself.”
