Chapter 6.
Suddenly, Kinsley clutched her stomach, moaning about abdominal pain.
Mason glared at me: “Kinsley is pregnant! Can’t you just give in for once?”
“Why is a simple apology so difficult for you?”
“I’m warning you, Aria–if anything happens to Kinsley, you’ll have hell to pay.”
Suddenly, the door burst open and an enraged voice thundered: “Mason Reed! Let’s see who’ll have hell to pay!”
“Grandpa? What are you doing here?”
As his grandfather stood in the doorway looking furious, with my parents behind him, Mason’s grip on my hand loosened.
“Dad… Mom…” I called out shakily. When my parents saw me with blood on my face, they rushed over, crying with distress.
Grandpa Reed leaned on his cane, approaching Mason step by step before delivering a resounding slap across his face.
“On your knees! Now!”
Mason was stunned silent and began to kneel, but Kinsley held him back.
“What has Mason done wrong? Why should he kneel?”
Hearing this, Mason tugged at Kinsley’s sleeve, signaling her to stay quiet, but she yanked away from him and lifted her chin defiantly at the old man.
“As Mason’s grandfather, why are you taking the outsider’s side?”
“Every time Mason argues with that woman, you always stand with her and punish him.”
Seeing her attitude, Grandpa Reed trembled with rage, his cane pounding the floor as he roared:
“Shut your mouth!”
Chapter 6
“I’m disciplining my own grandson. You’re the outsider here, and you have no right to interfere
“Have you no shame? Mason is a married man, yet you repeatedly insert yourself into someone else’s relationship. Now you have the audacity to criticize me?”
Then Grandpa Reed pointed his cane at Mason and commanded: “Mason, throw her out immediately!”
Before Mason could respond, Kinsley felt utterly humiliated. She stomped her foot, wiped her tears,
and ran out.
Watching her disappear into the snowfall, concern filled Mason’s eyes. He bit his lip and made to run after Kinsley.
So this was how much he loved her. He was willing to abandon his pride and defy his beloved grandfather’s orders for her sake. At last, I could see his love clearly for what it was.
Suddenly Grandpa Reed barked at him: “Stop right there!”
“If you step one foot outside that door, you are no longer my grandson.”
Mason halted, turning back with tears in his eyes. For the first time, he choked up as he challenged his grandfather: “Grandpa, what are you doing? I know you watched Aria grow up too, but how can you be so biased?”
“Kinsley is carrying my child. This time, as a man, I have to ensure she delivers safely. I won’t let anyone hurt her again.”
“You have no idea how much Kinsley suffered to conceive this baby. She’s an orphan–she didn’t grow up surrounded by love like Aria did.”
“She just wants a child. What’s wrong with that?”
Then he looked directly at my mother and me, his voice heavy:
“As for Aria, I’ll make it up to her later.”
His words turned Grandpa Reed’s face ashen. As the old man nearly collapsed from anger, my mother and I rushed to support him. Clutching his chest, he spoke with difficulty, emphasizing each word:
“Mason, you’ll be the death of me.”

Chapter 6
“Aria was also carrying your child. Where was your humanity when you forced her to terminate her pregnancy for the sake of that illegitimate child?”
“Don’t you forget–the first time I learned about your affair and wanted to beat you, who shielded you with her own body?”
