“Alpha Keshton,” the Red Moon Pack Beta hesitantly reapproached Keshton, who had been standing alone in the garden of the packhouse. All the guests had already arrived for the ball. “My apologies, but the rest of the guests are growing nervous over your absence. They’re under the false impression that you are offended and the ball might be attacked or something,” he managed to squeak out the last sentence. Keshton had been standing alone, glancing at the moon, his features as sharp as blades and his aura as intimidating as ever. “I am waiting for my date. When she shows up, I will be joining the ball with her,” he replied curtly. The Beta’s curiosity intensified as to who the she–wolf was that made the rogue Alpha wait for her for an hour. “But what if she does not come?” Lured by curiosity, he momentarily forgot the danger he was putting himself in. Keshton glared over his shoulder, his eyes filled with wrath. The Beta quickly lowered his head, his heart pounding in fear. “My apologies for such nonsense comments!” he stammered. “Get the f**k out of my face and don’t return unless you want to die,” Keshton growled lowly. The Beta fled as if his tail was on fire, but his careless remark had triggered Keshton. The mere thought of Sibyl not coming to him loosened the tight grip he had on his sanity. An hour ago, he had received news that they were waiting for Sibyl to come down from her apartment. This day was supposed to be significant. Sibyl was going to accept him, confess her feelings, and they were finally going to be together. The days of them living in two different worlds was supposed to end, and he was going to take her to his pack tonight. But she had not shown up… Keshton’s heart pounded with a mix of anger and anxiety, his mind racing through a thousand possibilities. His patience was fraying, and Rah’s restlessness only fueled his unease. He couldn’t shake the feeling that something was terribly wrong. Controlling his wild thoughts, Keshton pulled out his phone and dialed Mike’s number. He picked the call after a long time. “Why is Sibyl not here yet?” Keshton’s voice was low yet grave. “Alpha, she has run away!” Mike almost shouted. Keshton’s mind went blank, his hand tightening on the phone. “Where?” Mike swallowed hard, his heart beating faster in terror at Keshton’s tone. “I… I don’t know, Alpha. She came downstairs on time and even got in the car. Everything was normal until she got a call fifteen minutes into the drive. After that call, she panicked. She demanded we stop the car, saying she had to go somewhere else very urgently before the ball. When we told her we were following the Alpha’s orders and would only stop once we arrived at the ball, she jumped out of the moving car in her wolf form!” he explained hurriedly, his breathing heavy as if he were running. Keshton’s grip on the phone tightened until his knuckles turned white. “What was the name she spoke during the call?” “Kaha….” as soon as Mike revealed it, the phone disconnected abruptly and Keshton got a mind–link from a person that he had not received for four years. Heard you fall in love, Keshton.‘ Keshton froze hearing Joseph’s mind–link. ‘You broke my heart just like I broke yours. Are we even now?‘ he thought for a moment and said in a smiling tone, ‘I don’t think so. How could we be even when you have a little blind b***h in your heart?
