Dorothy bit her lips, and her eyes went dim.]
She put down her bag. “I’ll go cooking now.”
She went to the kitchen.[]
The fridge was filled with groceries bought by Emma. She used to cook by herself after work and wait for Dwayne to come back home.[]
Even if Dwayne didn’t have time to eat at home, she would heat the meal for him how matter how late he came back.
But he never actually ate.
This meant she didn’t have to cook for him.
He refused to be taken care of by his wife during the six–year marriage.[]
When she finally wanted to give up, he started to order her like a husband.

Dorothy stopped herself in her tracks and hurried up to finish the meal.]
She wanted to take one of the dressings at the top layer of the cupboard. But it was too high for her to reach.]
A shadow leaned in and overcast her. Soon, the stuff was taken down and put into her hand.[]
