Emma chuckled. “Mr. Lambert is cooking. I didn’t know he was this good in the kitchen. Mrs. Lambert, you’re so lucky!“]
Dorothy looked at Dwayne’s back.]}]
She was overwhelmed with mixed emotions.[]
She learned that Dwayne could cook from his cousin Marissa Lambert.]
Like the rest of the Thompson family, Marissa never really liked Dorothy.[]
Marissa also knew about Dwayne’s past with Sonia.]
When Dorothy just married Dwayne, Marissa deliberately compared her with Sonia, showing off how much Dwayne loved Sonia.]
Dwayne only learned to cook for Sonia.
He never cooked for Dorothy.]
But he was willing to do it for Sonia.]
But now, he was making breakfast for her on a whim.]
It didn’t sit right with her.
He had spent all those years cold and distant. What was this supposed to mean?]]
Was he trying to score points as a husband, out of a little guilt?
“You’re up?” Dwayne set two plates on the table.
It was lasagna.
He slid one over to her before sitting down. “I made some. It’s sweet. You should like it.“[]
Emma helped pull her chair out.]
Dorothy sat down and stared at the plate.
She didn’t even like sweet food
But he never bothered to notice.[]
Never mind![]
They would divorce sooner or later.]
“Thanks,” she said politely.
Dwayne glanced at her and narrowed his eyes.[]
Emma smiled. “Mr. Lambert really cares about you, Mrs. Lambert.”
Dorothy’s face sank for a moment.]
She didn’t want the fake care.]]
Dwayne cut into his food, calm and proper. He said, “My wife works hard. I should do my part.“]
Dorothy didn’t know how to reply]
Imma looked at Dwayne like he was the perfect man.]
Chapter 21
She must think this kind of husband couldn’t be found anywhere else.[]
Once Emma left to tidy up, only Dorothy and Dwayne were left at the table.]
She didn’t take his earlier words seriously.[]
When Emma was around. Dwayne always pretended to be the gentleman. He was never cold or rude.
But she knew why. Emma was the only one who knew they were married except the Lambert family.]
