She blurted out and remembered who was next to her.[]
She didn’t look up
Instead, she just frowned and kept her distance.[]
It was probably Dwayne who pushed her.[]
But she didn’t know why.[]
Forget it. She didn’t want to know the reason or hold unnecessary fantasy.[]
She didn’t want to assume Dwayne wasn’t over her.[]
Everyone walked out of the elevator when it reached the top floor.[]
Dorothy didn’t even glance at Dwayne but quickly followed Tyrell.[]
The hall was huge, and every seat was assigned. Dorothy happened to sit right next to Tyrell.[]
Sonia sat right next to Dwayne.[]
Dwayne wasn’t even in the medical field, but he was there due to the medical equipment he’d donated to the hospital.[]
As long as he wanted in, the big names in the medical world would always send him an invitation.[]
Sonia glanced toward Dorothy. Seeing her chatting with Tyrell, a flash of coldness crossed Sonia’s eyes.[]
“Dwayne, don’t you think Dr. Acosta and Mr. Calhoun make a good pair?“]
She stared at Dwayne to test him.]
Dwayne swiped on his phone. “She’s not good enough for him.“[]
Not good enough?
Even though he said so, Sonia still felt uneasy.
Dorothy chatted with Tyrell for a bit, and her phone buzzed.[]
She checked her phone and was stunned.]
Dwayne texted her.
“Are you into Tyrell now? Want to remarry and become Mrs. Calhoun?“]
Dorothy stared at the screen and bit her lips.]
She thought. “Is he mocking me?

“Wall Dwayne would never text me about such a trivial matter.[]
“Would he even care about who I like?]
“But he sounded like he was jealous.]

“Is it possible?”
She looked up toward Dwayne, only to catch the moment he was tucking Sonia’s hair behind her ear.
Sonia was laughing brightly and looking at him like he was the only one in the room. Her eyes were full of intimacy.
Dwayne didn’t dodge.]
They were like lovers in crazy love.[]
Dorothy stared at them for a second, chest tightening again. She quickly looked away.]
Tyrell picked up on her mood shift. He glanced at Dorothy and over at Dwayne.[]
He narrowed his eyes.
It was getting interesting.
Dorothy didn’t text Dwayne back.
During the break, Dorothy stepped out to use the restroom.[]
“Dr. Acosta.”
Sonia came up beside her, pulling out a lipstick and fixing her makeup in the mirror. “You know, I’ve got this feeling you and Dwayne are close. You’re not keeping it from me just to spare my feelings, are you?”
