She said it half joking, but Dorothy caught the meaning.]
Dorothy replied with a fake smile, “You’re overthinking it, Ms. Frazier. Mr. Lambert cares about you. Why would you still doubt his heart?“]
Sonia’s face stiffened, but she held back any abnormal reaction.[]
On the surface, Dwayne treated her well. But deep down, he’d always kept his distance.[]
She was terrified the guilt he felt for her would one day run out. Then she’d have no chance left at all.[]
Trying to stay composed, Sonia forced a smile. “Why would I doubt him? Even if I left him back then, Dwayne never forgot me. He’s been staying at my place these days, you know, having such a great time with me and Brenden.”
“Oh, and don’t let Dwayne’s cool vibe fool you. When it comes to that stuff… he’s got way too much energy. If he wasn’t being considerate, I honestly couldn’t keep up.”
Her tone got soft and sultry, like someone freshly loved.[]
Dorothy froze. She couldn’t even respond for a moment.[]

“You okay, Dr. Acosta?” Sonia stepped closer with fake concern and helped steady her. At the same time, she slipped a bracelet into Dorothy’s bag.]
