Inside the Blair family’s villa, Joanna and her father were seated on the living room sofa, the coffee table in front of them piled high with the lavish gifts they had brought.
The spacious living room was bathed in soft light that spilled onto the plush carpet.
Liana looked at the pile of gifts on the coffee table, many of which were high–end health supplements. She greeted with a cheerful smile, “Martin, you didn’t have to bring so much.”
“Liana, I know you’ve always had a delicate constitution,” Martin explained warmly. “While I was on my business trip overseas, I kept an eye out for things that might be good for you and brought them back especially for you.”
Liana had always been on good terms with Joanna’s family and had long regarded Joanna as her future daughter–in–law.
Martin skipped the pleasantries and cut straight to the chase. “Liana, the only thing I’m worried about now is Joanna and Byron. As their elders, I think it’s time we gave them a little nudge.”
Joanna sat to the side, her cheeks flushing as she shyly lowered her head. “Dad, what are you saying…” she murmured.
“What’s there to be shy about, Joanna?” Martin chuckled, glancing at his daughter. “It’s only natural for young people to get married. Don’t tell me you don’t want to be Mrs. Blair’s daughter–in–law?”
Joanna’s cheeks flushed an even deeper pink, a quiet thrill coursing through her.
Liana nodded thoughtfully. “You’re right, we really can’t keep putting this off. Once Byron gets back, I’ll sit down and have a serious talk with him about
it.”
Just as the words left her lips, Byron strode into the living room with Zack in tow.
Byron carried himself with a commanding presence. His piercing gaze and every gesture exuded the natural authority of a born leader.
Every time Joanna saw Byron, a wave of infatuation washed over her. And as she recalled Liana’s recent promise, a quiet thrill pulsed through her.
She had always yearned to truly become part of the Blair family as the coveted Mrs. Blair, the envy of all.
Even though Martin was the elder, he immediately stood up as soon as Byron entered. “Byron, you’re back,” Martin greeted, his tone full of respect.
After all, Blair held a commanding position in the business world. Not only was he a powerhouse domestically, but he also had a prominent presence on
Wall Street.
Byron gave a slight nod, then guided Zack to a different sofa and sat down.
“Byron, Mr. Moore is here to discuss you and Joanna’s future. What are your thoughts?” Liana asked.
Joanna’s cheeks flushed as she stole a shy glance at Byron, her heart fluttering.
“Not interested,” Byron frowned, his tone icy.
“Byron, Sylvia has been standing in the way of you and Joanna for years. Now that she’s out of the picture, it’s time you two had a pro
urged.
Byron tugged at his tie, clearly irritated.
Martin
“Joanna’s has never recovered since that hit–and–run accident Sylvia caused. I swear, if I could get my hands on Sylvia, I’d lock her up for life!” Martin
fumed.

Hearing her father’s words, Joanna immediately began to sob piteously beside him, feeling utterly wronged.
Byron originally had no intention of speaking, but when Martin mentioned Sylvia, his expression darkened.

Byron said coldly, “Mr. Moore, what happened back then was never proven. Don’t you think it’s a bit unfair to speak ill of Sylvia when she’s not here to defend herself?”
At Byron’s words, Martin and Joana’s faces fell instantly.
“Byron, I didn’t mean it that way…” Martin hurried to explain.
Just then, Zack stood up angrily from the side, puffing out his cheeks. “Mom’s not even here, but you’re still talking badly about her. I’m her kid. So are you saying I’m a bad kid too?”
Joanna’s eyes widened in disbelief. Zack had never stood up for her before, not even when Sylvia was right there. But now, he was a completely different
person.
Zack looked up at Byron, stretching out his little arms. “Dad, will you carry me upstairs?”
He couldn’t stand hearing anyone talk badly about his mom, and he definitely didn’t want his dad to get dragged into it.
Byron gave a curt nod, scooped Zack up, and strode upstairs without another word.
Liana’s smile stiffened with visible embarrassment. “Byron, Joanna and her father came all this way. Won’t you at least keep them company for a while?”
“Not interested,” Byron said coldly, turning his head.
With that, Byron carried Zack upstairs, leaving the others behind without a second glance.
Joanna and her father stayed downstairs, their brows tightly furrowed in frustration.
Judging from Byron’s attitude, Joanna’s chances of marrying into the Blair family were next to impossible.
Martin seethed with anger, but since his business standing was nowhere near Byron Blair’s, he could only bite his tongue and say nothing.
Zack flopped onto his little bed as soon as he got to his room, grabbed his phone, and eagerly started a video call.
“Zack, Zack.” On the other end of the video call, Zack waved his chubby little hands excitedly.
Zack would video chat with Ruby whenever he had free time.
Just then, Sylvia was sitting next to Ruby. She glanced at Zack in the video and asked gently, “Zack, have you finished your homework yet?”
“I haven’t started it yet,” Zack said, pouting. “Mom, Ms. Moore and her dad are downstairs. They were saying mean things about you, but Dad and I didn’t listen. We came right upstairs.”
Hearing Zack’s words, Sylvia didn’t get angry. Instead, her eyes gleamed with calculation.
Joanna and her father remained at the Blair residence…
They still hadn’t fully bought into Dillan’s identity and were hesitant to invest in him. To Sylvia, this hesitation presented
“Zack,” Sylvia said, “I’m sending you a video. Could you take it downstairs and show it to them?”
“Okay, Mom.” Zack replied brightly.
Sylvia found a highlight reel about Dillan online and forwarded it to Zack.

The video lavished praise on Dillan, hailing him as the renowned international investor Master Cameron who had financed numerous films, each one

becoming a massive box office hit.
She intended to use this video to deepen Martin’s trust in Dillan and tie the Moore family’s interests to his.
Zack hung up the video call and was about to dash downstairs, all excited, only to find Byron standing in the doorway, his face cold and unreadable.
Byron asked coldly, “What were you talking about with your mom just now?”
“Daddy, you were listening in on me and Mom. That’s rude!” Zack said, pouting unhappily.
Byron ignored the increasingly bratty kid and snatched his phone, only to see the video Sylvia had sent him.
His expression darkened.
The man in the video was Dillan.
“Looks like Sylvia still can’t let go of Dillan,” Byron thought with a frown. “She actually had Zack play this hype video about him.”
‘Dillan is that mysterious investor, Master Cameron? No way I’m buying that.‘ Byron thought, full of disbelief.
But at that moment, he recalled Sylvia’s explanation. She kept helping Dillan not because they were close, but because she was just waiting for the perfect chance to set him up for a major fall.
Byron handed the phone back to Zack and commanded coldly.
“Do as your mom says.” Byron said coldly.
Downstairs, Martin and his daughter were chatting with Liana when Zack suddenly came bounding down, a big grin on his face as he clutched his phone, which was playing a video on loop.
He scrambled onto the sofa and, in his sweet, childish voice, asked, “Grandma, who is this Master Cameron? Why is everyone praising him now? He’s so amazing!”
Joanna and Martin exchanged a knowing glance, a hint of a smile appearing on both their faces.
Martin beamed at Zack and said warmly, “Zack, if you’d like to meet this much–talked–about Master Cameron, I’d be happy to introduce you. He happens to be a good friend of mine.”
Liana had recently come across some videos about Dillan online. Surprised, she asked, “Martin, do you really know this Master Cameron? I heard people online say his real name is Dillan Sheppard. Is that true?”
Martin beamed with pride. “Indeed,” he said, “as it happens, our family is currently looking to collaborate with him.”
He became even more determined to work with Dillan. However, before that, he invited a friend back from overseas, someone who had actually met the real Master Cameron in person.
Once the time comes, it’d be crystal clear whether Dillan is truly Master Cameron.
