Night fell.
Outside the window, neon lights from thousands of households were flickering.
Dorothy sat cross legged on the bed, organizing tomorrow’s surgical plan with her notebook.
At that moment, the phone rang, it was Rogelio.
She picked up the phone and before she could say anything, she heard Rogelio’s excited voice, “Dorothy! Did you forget that my birthday is the day after tomorrow? Will you and Dwayne come then?”
Dorothy was stunned for a few seconds before she finally glanced at today’s date.

Time really flies.
“I haven’t forgotten,” Dorothy lowered her eyes and smiled, then thought of something and added, “It’s just that I can’t guarantee whether your brother–in–law will come or not.”

Dorothy nodded, her voice hoarse, “Okay.”
After ending the call, she looked at the screen in silence for a long time.

She picked up her phone and sent a message to Dwayne.
