Chapter 135

The tense atmosphere in the room finally eased a little after Byron left

Everyone silently began organizing the documents on the table

They didn’t dare disobey Byron’s orders, clearly remembering his wordsif they ever encountered a woman named Sylvia, they must obey her unconditionally

Just then, the door to the room swung open as Martin entered with his group

With decades of experience in the business world, he instantly recognized the figures seated inside, and his heart skipped a beat

These were all major power players in Silverton

To his astonishment, these powerful figures had voluntarily vacated the room

Could it be because Dillan was Master Cameron

Dillan didn’t recognize any of these people. Still, seeing them voluntarily give up the Imperial View Balcony, he assumed it was due to him

Straightening his posture, he wore a smug expression

Martin put on an ingratiating smile and respectfully extended both hands toward the middleaged man with thinning hair. Good evening, Mr. Roscente. What a pleasant surprise to see you here!”

This Mr. Roscente was the top economic official of Silverton, effectively Martin’s direct superior

Oh, it’s you, Martin, said Mr. Roscente

Mr. Roscente barely spared Martin a glance. He didn’t even bother to stand up, just offering a perfunctory handshake

The Moore family business hasn’t been performing well lately. Step up your game, don’t drag down Silverton’s economy.”

Martin forced an awkward smile and hastily greeted the others, but none acknowledged him

This was the true difference in status

The only one these men truly respected was Byron

Annoyed by Mr. Roscente’s coldness toward Martin, Dillan sprawled arrogantly in his chair and said dismissively, Mr. Moore, don’t stoop to their level. Let’s just order.”

Joanna, who had followed them in, paled in shock. She instantly recognized these powerful figures. Shooting Dillan a frantic look, she urgently signaled

him not to act rashly

Dillan, these are all respected elders. Let’s not rush to order.”

Relax, Joanna. With me around, you guys can just be yourselves.”

Now, Dillan’s confidence soared. Convinced these people were intimidated by his status as Master Cameron, he spoke even more recklessly

Mr. Roscente and the others turned their gazes to Joanna. They’d clearly heard Dillan call her Joanna, which meant she couldn’t be the woman Byron had mentioned

Sylvia remained silent, contemplating how she could help Dillan save face

These people present were no ordinary folks. If even Martin was being this deferential, they must be figures of considerable standing

Chapter 135

Dillan was playing with fireif he pissed these people off, not only would he lose tonight’s dinner, but his identity as the fake Master Cameron might be exposed

Just as Sylvia was deep in thought, she suddenly felt all eyes in the room lock onto her at once

Mr. Roscente and the others turned to Sylvia, exchanged knowing glances, and instantly understood

Of the two women who entered, one was called Joanna. The other, though her name was unknown, was no doubt Sylvia

Dillan, eager to flaunt his supposed status, coolly commanded Sylvia, Go get the waiter. We’re ready to order.”

No doubt about it

That was herthe woman Byron mentioned

Mr. Roscente and the others exchanged knowing glances once more

No need, Ms. Sullivan, said Mr. Roscente, I’ll take care of it.”

Before anyone could react, he personally stepped out to summon a waiter

Martin’s eyes widened in shock. Why is Mr. Roscente treating her so deferentially?‘

The way Mr. Roscente treated Martin was worlds apart from how he treated Sylvia

Martin glanced at Sylvia in confusion and asked in a hushed tone

Do you

know Mr. Roscente?”

No,Sylvia answered truthfully, equally puzzled by Mr. Roscente’s sudden change in attitude. After a moment’s thought, she forced a smile and added, It’s probably because of Dillan. After all, everyone knows him as the renowned Master Cameron.”

Dillan thought to himself, These people didn’t even bat an eye at Martin. Why would they give a damn about me?”

Yes, Ms. Sullivan is correct,Mr. Roscente replied. Although he still had no idea who Master Cameron was, he knew it was wisest to follow Ms. Sullivan’s

lead

Hearing Mr. Roscente’s affirmation, Dillan’s ego swelled even further

Gentlemen,he declared arrogantly, since you all know who I am I expect you to show me some respect in the future, and treat Mr. Moore with the courtesy he deserves.”

Show him respect? Who the hell did he think he was

What nerve! He just kept pushing his luck

Mr. Roscente’s and the otherssmiles vanished. They rose as one, their commanding presence erupting like a sudden storm

They didn’t come here to flatter Dillan. They were merely following Byron’s ordersto treat Miss Sullivan with respect

Damn it!Sylvia thought in alarm. He managed to piss off every single one of these people!”

Sylvia could barely restrain herself from slapping him. Every word he spoke dug his grave deeper. If he kept this up, everyone would know that he was a fake Master Cameron

Sylvia forced herself to explain, Please don’t misunderstand, everyone. Master Cameron can be a bit blunt sometimes”

Martin and Joanna felt the tension in the air, a chill running down their spines. But when they heard Sylvia’s explanation, they couldn’t help but frown

Who does she think she is? She has no place to speak here!they thought

But what happened next left them utterly stunned

Mr. Roscente said, Please don’t worry, Ms. Sullivan. We would never misunderstand Master Cameron, nor would we take offense at all

That’s right, Ms. Sullivan. Don’t underestimate how tolerant we can be.”

Noticing Sylvia’s nervousness, Mr. Roscente and the others grew even more anxious themselves. Forcing polite smiles, they each hurried to offer

reassurances

They didn’t know her relationship with Byron, but Byron’s warning was unmistakableif they ever crossed Sylvia, he wouldn’t let it slide

They wasted no time, rising as one, each handed Sylvia their card before departing

Ms. Sullivan, feel free to reach out anytime.”

Ms. Sullivan, count me in as well. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if there’s anything I can help with.”

Sylvia stood dazed, holding a thick stack of business cards

At this moment, Joanna and her father were eyeing her with growing suspicion

Sylvia’s heart skipped a beat. Not wanting them to jump to conclusions, she gestured toward Dillan and asked, Are you treating me this well because of Master Cameron?”

Mr. Roscente and the others nodded again. Indeed, Ms. Sullivan. We know you and Master Cameron are close friends.”

The tension in Joanna and her father’s faces easedApparently, it was all because of Dillan,” they thought

After Mr. Roscente and the others left the room, Martin, Joanna, and Dillan settled into the plush, luxurious chairs

Sylvia made an excuse to go to the restroom, then stealthily peeked through the door of the adjacent private room, where she heard Mr. Roscente and the others talking

She didn’t believe these people would help her for nothing. There had to be another reason
