Perhaps Rodrick was in a good mood, spending time with Bianca–he didn’t find fault with her for standing him up last night.
When it was almost noon, he walked out of his office with Bianca.
He didn’t slow down at all when he passed Britney’s workstation.
Bianca was asking him what he’d like to have for lunch.
She said it’d be her treat, as she wanted to thank him for drinking on her behalf yesterday.
He proposed to go to Opal Restaurant–an upscale restaurant nearby. The signature nourishing soup there was great for
her.
She was obviously touched. “Rod, you’re still as thoughtful as ever.”
The elevator doors slid shut just as Britney typed her name on the resignation letter.
Katheryn texted her, “Any idea for lunch?”
After pondering for a while, she replied, “How about Opal Restaurant? I crave the soup there.”
“Sure,” Katheryn soon replied to her.
It was peak lunch hour, and the restaurant was packed with diners.
Upon entering the door, Britney spotted Bianca and Rodrick. After all, they were sitting in an obvious place.
“Talk about bad luck,” Katheryn muttered, worried Britney would be upset.
To her relief, Britney seemed pretty calm. She said, as if she hadn’t seen the two at all, “There’s a vacant table over there.”
After Britney sat down, a waitress who knew her came over with a smile and said, “Hello, Ms. Harrington. Are you here for bone broth today?”
She smiled, too, while shaking her head, “No. Something good to the stomach, perhaps.”
“Oh? Is your boss sleeping better these days?” the waitress instinctively asked.
Britney had come here frequently, buying bone broth for Rodrick. According to him, it helped with his insomnia.
As time went by, she became a regular, and most of the staff here knew her.
Britney replied flatly, “Yes. I won’t have to buy the broth for him anymore.”

Chapter 11
From now on, she just needed to take care of her own stomach.
Katheryn asked the waitress, “Do you have any soups that are good for menstrual cycles? I’m on my period these days. and keep getting lightheaded from low blood sugar.”
“In fact, we do. We have three servings of our special chicken soup today. You’re just in luck–there’s one serving left. The gentleman over there bought the two servings for his girlfriend.”
The envy in the waitress‘ tone was palpable. “They’re such a great match. He’s so handsome, and she’s pretty. And, gosh, they both have such class. Most importantly, he’s so nice to her. Men like him are so rare these days.”
Katheryn could barely hold the urge to cover the waitress‘ mouth.
Because she was talking about Rodrick and Bianca.
So, when he said the signature nourishing soup here was great for her, he was referring to her period.
Yesterday, he drank for her for the same reason.
They must be so intimate for him to know such details.
Rodrick had had moments of tenderness toward Britney over the past seven years.
But as time went by, like a lot of couples, they were no longer that intimate.
Royarch Capital was thriving, and its business expanded.
Therefore, Rodrick became so swamped with work that he barely had time to sleep, let alone spend time acting as the gentle, sweet partner.
Britney couldn’t even remember the last time they went on a date.
And his meticulous care for her now seemed like a memory from another lifetime.
Once the waitress left, Katheryn immediately asked Britney nervously, “Britney, are you alright?”
Snapping back to reality, she nodded and replied lightly, “Yes.”
