“Who do you think is prettier? Ms. Harrington or Ms. Webster?”
“It’s impossible to compare them. They’re different types.”
“If this were back in the day, I’d have voted for Ms. Webster. After all, you know how Ms. Harrington used to dress- she was a total frump. Those who didn’t know her would think she was pushing fifty. But she’s got natural beauty. The second she tries, she’s effortlessly gorgeous.”
“Totally. She’s absolutely stunning. I think she’s even prettier than those stars!”
“I agree she’s prettier than Ms. Webster, but Ms. Webster beats her in both educational and family background.”
“You’ve got a point. Brains and birth are pure luck, and it’s the truth that some people are born with silver spoons in their mouths.”
“I heard Ms. Harrington comes from a single–parent family…
Britney walked inside in time, and her presence silenced them at once.
“Morning,” she greeted them with a smile while fetching water, as if she hadn’t heard anything.
They quickly greeted her and then dispersed.
After she took the medicine and came back to her desk, Alaric Fletcher, the manager of Investment Division III, ap- proached her hastily, asking her for the assessment report on the Aethon Tech drone project. He said Rodrick needed it now.
He asked when Britney handed him the document, “Ms. Harrington, is your phone broken?”
“What? No.” She was puzzled.
“Then how come Mr. Livingston couldn’t reach you? He had to go on a business trip this morning and needed this as- sessment report, so he called you a bunch of times, but you were unreachable.”
She said flatly, “Its battery probably died.”
Her excuse was so lame that Alaric didn’t buy it at all.
But he didn’t dwell on it. He just said, “Mr. Livingston is accompanying Ms. Webster on the Aethon Tech drone project inspection, and they won’t be back till next week. I’ll email the report to him.”
She nodded and then turned on her computer to deal with work.
She had been the one overseeing the Aethon Tech drone project, dealing with both rounds of inspections and negotia
tions.

Rodrick had never asked her anything about the project before, and of course, he’d never accompany her out of town for some inspection.
After all, it was only one of the projects of Royarch Capital and didn’t deserve his personal involvement.
But today, he joined Bianca on a business trip.
Those who weren’t stupid all knew it was not about some project inspection. He was there to show his support for Bianca, just like a husband would.
How sweet.
Now that Rodrick was out of town, Britney’s workload halved–at least she didn’t have to handle Investment Division III’s projects anymore.
She felt a lot more relaxed and at ease.
She made an appointment with Colin Cross for after work, wanting him to prescribe something for her stomach is-
sues.
Her priority now was to rebuild her health.
Colin was a famous doctor in Riverton, and it was very hard to make an appointment with him.
Back then, she had come to the hospital before the sky lit up to make an appointment with him, just to win over the families of a client.
Over time, she became acquainted with Colin.
Colin admired her determination.
But he also warned her, “You shouldn’t overlook your health. You may be young now, but you’ll eventually get old. If you don’t pay enough attention to your health, mark my word–you’re so gonna regret it.”
Surprised to see her make an appointment with him, Colin especially stayed in the office after getting off work just to
wait for her.
