Chapter 19
However, on her way to the hospital, she received a call from Judson Garrison, the owner of Aethon Tech.
“Ms. Harrington, something happened. Could you come over?”
Frowning, she asked, “What’s up?”
Judson said, “Mr. Livingston and Ms. Webster are here for the inspection. Everything went smoothly at first, but she insisted on lowering the already agreed valuation by three percentage points when discussing the project.
“She even said that my drones were too industrial–focused, lacked commercial value, and had a weaker market share compared to other commercial drone brands. Those were her reasons for lowering the price.
“Ms. Harrington, of all the people who approached me, you were the sincerest. Besides, the collaboration proposal and future plan you proposed were great for my company. That was why I chose Royarch Capital. You know I’ve got investors lining up to work with me, right? How could you do this to me? You’re the only person I’m willing to nego- tiate with now. If you don’t come here, fine–I’ll go to someone else.”
Judson hung up before Britney could say anything to appease him.
Just as she was about to call him back, Rodrick called her.
She could only pick up.
“Come to Anvilburg,” he said before hanging up.
His tone was as demanding as always.
After a few seconds of hesitation, Britney decided to go to Anvilburg.
But she wasn’t there for Rodrick’s sake. Instead, it was for Aethon Tech and Judson.
She had picked the Aethon Tech project, dedicating immense time and energy to lay the foundation.
Back then, she had been the one who approached Judson time and again, adjusting her proposal repeatedly to per- suade him, and finally getting him to agree to work with Royarch Capital.
She couldn’t walk away from it just like that.
Then she called Colin to cancel the appointment. As she expected, he gave her an earful.
She promised him she’d fully commit to the treatment once this was over.
It was already late at night when the plane landed in Anvilburg. Heavy rain poured down, freezing to the bone.
She left in a hurry and didn’t take anything with her. Just then, her lower abdomen started to twist, leaving her pale.

Chapter 19
Bracing herself, she hailed a cab and went to the hotel. It was almost 1:00 a.m. when she arrived.
Though it was a bit late, she still wanted to discuss with Rodrick about the Aethon Tech project.
If they had disagreements when meeting with Judson the next day, it might jeopardize the second negotiation.
So, after she entered the room, she called him right away, even though her hair was still wet from the rain.
The call was picked up after quite a few seconds.
Before she could say anything, she heard Bianca’s voice.
“Rod, it’s Ms. Harrington.”
Rodrick’s voice was a bit muffled, and she couldn’t hear him clearly.
Bianca told her, “Ms. Harrington, Rod is in the shower. Maybe you can try again later.”
Britney’s throat inexplicably tightened.
“It’s nothing important. Sorry for disturbing you,” she said before hanging up.

It was late at night, and there was no one but themselves in the hotel room. Anyone who wasn’t stupid knew what would happen.
The rain grew heavier. Standing next to the floor–to–ceiling window, she felt a chill spreading to her limbs.
It turned out Anvilburg was colder than Riverton.
The pain in her lower abdomen grew sharper. After going into the bathroom, she realized she was on her period.
She checked her phone calendar–her period had come nearly a week early, and the cramps were more intense than ev-
- er.
