Chapter 24
Bianca said, her tone rather meaningful, “I was abroad for too long, and it’s gonna take me a while to adjust to the nu- ances of relationships here. I have a lot to learn from Ms. Harrington.”
Rodrick scoffed, “You don’t have to. You’re an investment director, not a PR manager.”
She smiled at his words, and even her voice became more coquettish.
“I just wanna be on top of things like Ms. Harrington.”
“That won’t be necessary. I know you hate corporate ballet. You don’t have to force yourself.” There was a trace of fondness in Rodrick’s softening voice.
As an outsider, Judson observed their interaction.
After Rodrick and Bianca walked away, he curiously asked Britney, who stood in place motionlessly, “Are Ms. Web- ster and Mr. Livingston an item?”
Britney parted her lips, finding it hard to utter words. “I’m not sure.”
After all, Rodrick hadn’t publicly announced his relationship with Bianca. She had no right to define them.
Though she knew it was only a matter of time.
Judson, however, seemed pretty sure. “I think they are. Gee, I was so tough back in the meeting room. I hope I didn’t offend her.”
With that, he trotted forward to catch up with them.
ey remained rooted to the spot, the dull ache from her lower abdomen spreading to her limbs.
e liked socializing–at least not her.
r the years, she had tried to be on top of things, pleasing everyone who was Royarch Capital’s potential partner.
But Rodrick saw her efforts as worthless and even belittled her with them.
It took her quite some time before pulling herself together.
But she didn’t catch up with them. Instead, she crouched down slowly while pressing her lower abdomen with both hands.
The painkillers had worn off.
As Judson led Rodrick and Bianca back, Britney was in a chair, sipping water the janitor had fetched for her.
“Ms. Harrington, are you feeling unwell?” Judson noticed her pale face and was a bit worried.

“It’s nothing serious. Don’t worry about it.” She was used to playing tough.
The janitor shook her head. “Menstrual cramps are not to be overlooked. You gotta take it seriously.”
Frowning, Rodrick finally said something considerate for once, “If you don’t feel well, go to the hospital. What’s the point of suffering?”
“That won’t help.” Britney stood up. “Is the tour over?”
She just wanted to wrap up and go back to the hotel to lie down.
Bianca said, “We haven’t seen that part yet.”
Judson explained, “That’s the new workshop. There’s nothing to see because it’s still under construction.”
But she still looked very curious. “Still under construction? That’s perfect. Everything we’ve seen so far is prear- ranged. They aren’t quite useful for assessment.”
Judson seemed torn. “But … it’s quite a mess.”
“It’s fine. I’ll just take a look–it won’t be long,” Bianca insisted. “I’ll be handling this project, and I wanna know every detail.”
Rodrick remained silent, showing his tacit approval of her demand.
Judson could only take them over. “Since it’s still under construction, you have to wear hard hats.”
“What? But they’re so ugly,” Bianca muttered, pouting. Then she turned to Rodrick and said, “Rod, don’t look at me after I put it on. I don’t wanna ruin my perfect image in your eyes.”
“Don’t be silly. You’ve always been perfect to me.” He looked down at her intently.
She beamed, no longer complaining about wearing a hard hat.
Britney didn’t want to join them.
