Chapter34
“That works, we could have a meal together. Just take it as a thank you for your help. My mom kept telling me to thank you.”
“Okay.” Rodrick put down his pen and talked to Bianca on the phone, focused and serious.
Britney sensibly left the office so she wouldn’t bother the two who were chatting on the phone.
It was just that stinky smell of love, and even the door couldn’t keep it
out.
Britney just left Royarch Capital early and went to the Livingston’s villa to get the hundred–year–old ginseng.
Rodrick didn’t stay long at the Livingston’s villa, he only went back to have a meal with Eliot Livingston during holidays.
Usually, only Eliot and his nanny, Eve Suarez, were at the Livingston’s villa. The others left after work during the day, so it was pretty quiet.
Counting the days, Britney hadn’t been to the Livingston’s villa for more than half a month.
So she went a bit out of her way to buy Eliot’s favorite palmier cookies.
When I got there, Eliot was in the yard feeding the koi in the pond.
The gate was half open as usual, so you could just push it and go in.
Britney knew that’s what Eliot meant.

would tell Eve to open the gate so Britney could come in.
Of course, this was something Eve quietly told Britney in private.
After all, Eliot was always a serious guy who hardly ever smiled.
The relationship between this father and son wasn’t good.
When I first met Rodrick, it was when the father–son relationship hit rock bottom.
Eliot wanted Rodrick to take over the Livingston family business, but Rodrick insisted on starting his own business.
Eve said they had a huge fight that night, the study got totally smashed, and a lot of valuable antiques didn’t make it.
In the end, Rodrick slammed the door and left.
Eliot made it clear to everyone that no one was allowed to help Royarch Capital for the sake of the Livingston family or for his own, Eliot’s, sake.
So in the first two years, Royarch Capital barely survived.
Even though Rodrick was the only heir of the Livingston family, he didn’t get any advantage at all.
It was just in the past few years, with Britney being active, that the relationship between the father and son eased up a bit.
Actually, at first Eliot didn’t like Britney either.
Speaking harshly and looking stern were common. Cold stares and cold faces happened all the time.
Britney only found out back then who Rodrick got his mean and cold

personality from.
But this didn’t get Britney down. Even though she often got the cold shoulder, she didn’t back off. Instead, she just got braver and braver.
It was exactly her persistence that finally moved Eliot, and his attitude finally softened.
Eve often said the biggest reason why the relationship between the father and son got better was Britney.
If it wasn’t for her mediating between the two, who knows how long this father and son would’ve kept up their cold war.
“Eliot, feeding the fish?” Britney adjusted her mood out of habit before coming in, then pushed the door open with a big smile and greeted Eliot.
Eliot didn’t show any expression on his face, but he said yeah.
Britney put the palmier cookies she specially bought on the table in front of him, “These are freshly baked palmier cookies, Eliot. Eat them while they’re hot, or they won’t be crispy anymore.”
