Probably because someone bumped into him, the middle–aged man looked really cold, his brows tightly furrowed.
Britney was in a hurry, so she just quickly said sorry to the other person and left.
Of course, she only left after making sure he was okay.

“Mom told me to come down. She must have missed you.”
“Sorry I’ve been on business trips this whole time, it’s been hard on her.” Theodore felt really guilty.
Bianca comforted him, “Mom understood, she didn’t blame you for anything, come on, come on, she couldn’t wait.”
The secretary came in from outside, holding a bunch of flowers in her hands.

When Britney got to the oncology department, Lila Harrington had already finished part of the tests, but the results weren’t out yet.
Seeing her show up out of breath, Lila gave her a reassuring smile and called out, “Bree, you’re here? I already told Dr. Voss not to call you, it’s just a little checkup, but she wouldn’t listen. Did it mess up your work?”
Britney couldn’t help but feel her nose sting.
At this point, she was still worried if she would affect her daughter’s job.
“Didn’t hold you up. Mom, why didn’t you tell me you weren’t feeling well?”
“Just the same old problem, nothing serious, I know my own body.” Lila reached out and touched Britney’s face, which had gotten a lot thinner lately, her eyes full of concern.
“Why did you lose weight again? Is work too tiring?”
“No, I’m on a diet.” Britney forced down the lump in her throat.
Lila was a bit angry but couldn’t bring herself to scold, “You’re not even fat, why are you trying to lose weight?”

Britney couldn’t really hold it together and was afraid Lila would see her tears about to fall, so she turned away under the pretense of asking the nurse something.
“Is Dr. Voss in the office now?”
The nurse said here.
Britney said she’d go ask Dr. Voss about it and hurried out of the ward.
As soon as I left the hospital room, the tears I’d been holding back just burst out.
She was afraid Lila would find out, so she just kept walking, only letting her tears flow freely when she got to a quiet corner.
