Chapter 18
Up against his solid chest, Savannah’s struggle felt utterly useless, like an ant trying to shake a
tree.
Just as another scorching kiss was about to descend, she bit down hard on Rafael’s lower lip.
‘Rafael, look at me. See clearly who I am!”
The taste of blood spread across her tongue, sharp and metallic. The sudden pain snapped Rafael out of his daze.
As if struck by lightning, he stumbled two steps back, finally putting distance between them.
Realizing what had just happened, Rafael held his forehead with a hint of regret.
‘Sorry.”
Neither of them spoke again. Rafael leaned against the wall, lost in thought, the only sound in the room being his still–heavy breathing and the burning desire in his eyes revealing how hard he was restraining himself.
The drug’s effects were still surging through his veins, worse than before.
f he stayed here with Savannah any longer, he couldn’t guarantee what he might do.
After a tense pause, Rafael turned around and walked toward the bathroom, locking the door behind him with a quiet click.
He leaned against the cold door, breathing heavily, trying to calm the chaos in his blood. Lowering his gaze, he saw the deep red marks dug into his palms from clenching them too ightly and finally, he let out a slow breath of relief.
Luckily, nothing had happened.
f Rafael hadn’t managed to hold himself back just then, he couldn’t bear to think further.
f it had been anyone else in his arms tonight, he would never have been able to keep his control
ntact.
He had finally gotten word of Savannah again. Finally snatched her away from Tobias. Finally nade her his wife.
From now on, he just needed to slowly build up their relationship.
He closed his eyes, her image filling his mind.
He had known Savannah for a long time, even longer than Tobias.
Back when he was just starting out, struggling for sponsorships and trying to land deals, he had been rejected time and time again. It was Savannah who had noticed him, spoken on his behalf and helped him secure a vital opportunity.
Her unexpected kindness had unknowingly become the foundation of Raven Corporation’s rise. Rafael knew all too well the vast difference between them. That’s why he had fought tooth and nail, slowly climbing until he finally stood on the same level as her, only to find that by then, she had already been with Tobias.
He had thought they would simply remain two parallel lines, never crossing again.

But then he’d heard about Savannah once more, after her bankruptcy, when Tobias had kept her by his side, holding onto her tightly.
The moment Rafael learned the news, fury and heartbreak had consumed him. Without a second thought, he had proposed marriage, claiming it was to help her clear her debts.
Recalling it all now, Rafael rubbed his temples, a wave of frustration crashing over him.
That hard–won opportunity had nearly slipped away, all because of tonight’s drinking.
He blamed himself. Turning on the faucet, he splashed cold water on his face, desperately trying to stay awake.
The sound of running water from the bathroom allowed Savannah to exhale, her chest tightening slightly with relief.
She clutched her chest. Unknowingly, her heart was also racing wildly.
That lingering sweetness, the scent that had clung to the air, made her cheeks flush with heat.
At that moment, Rafael’s jacket, carelessly tossed onto the sofa earlier, slid off with a soft thud and a photo slipped out from the inner pocket.
Savannah got up to pick it up but froze when her eyes caught a glimpse of the picture.
The person in the photo was none other than herself.
