Chapter 23
Over the years, they had all witnessed Tobias’s cold indifference toward Savannah. To them, it had always seemed like he felt nothing but contempt for her.
So when Tobias suddenly declared that he wanted to marry her, they were left speechless, their minds reeling in disbelief.
If he truly cared, then why had he never admitted it? Why did he keep pushing her away, tormenting her time and time again?
And why did it take losing her for him to realize what she meant?
Back then, when they plotted their revenge, Tobias had been the most driven among them, fully committed, never once showing hesitation.
After all, at their level, women came and went. There were always younger, more obedient ones. Replacing Savannah should have been easy.
Hearing the words “plaything,” Tobias seemed to have been touched on a reverse scale and his fury almost exploded from his chest.
“Who the hell gave you the guts to talk about Savannah like that?!”
He grabbed the speaker by the collar and slammed a fist into his face, once, twice, again and again, every punch landing with brutal force as if he were fighting for his soul.
The man’s legs buckled in terror. He nearly dropped to his knees.
Tobias, I’m sorry! I was wrong; I swear I was wrong!”
But Tobias didn’t stop. His fists came down harder, fiercer, each strike burning with fury.
Someone rushed in to break it up, only to be kicked aside, crashing into the table corner with a pained grunt.
By the time Tobias finally let go, the person he had beaten was already bruised beyond recognition.
“If I ever hear you speak like that again, I won’t let you off.”
There’s only Savannah in my heart, no one else. Anyone who tries to shove another woman at me can forget about staying in this circle.”
The private room fell deathly silent. Not even a pin drop would have gone unnoticed.
Everyone kept their heads lowered, not daring to meet Tobias’s furious gaze, let alone speak.
Most of them had climbed the ladder by flattering him and if they had been kicked out of this circle now, it would have been a fall straight from heaven to hell.
In all these years, they had never seen Tobias so furious. The thought alone made cold sweat run down their backs.
What none of them expected was how deep Savannah’s place in his heart truly was.
Had they known, even with a hundred times the courage, they never would have dared arrange another woman for him.
The few who had treated Savannah the worst now broke out in a cold sweat, terrified that Tobias would begin settling old scores.

The air remained heavy and frozen until Tobias’s phone suddenly rang, finally breaking the suffocating tension.
When he answered, his assistant’s anxious voice came through the line.
“President Duncan, I’ve found out. Back then, the reason Miss Rossi suddenly went bankrupt, it was all Tessa’s doing. She slept with the partner company’s executive, caused the capital chain to collapse and then used the Davis Family to pressure Savannah’s company from every direction. That’s what led to the bankruptcy.”
It was Tessa.
Tobias’s face turned frighteningly dark, his fingers tightening around the phone until his knuckles turned white.
It was her again.
He had actually protected the very person who destroyed Savannah’s life and even worse, he had repeatedly hurt Savannah because of her manipulation.
Even the entire revenge plan had started with Tessa.
If not for her, his Savannah would never have left.
