Chapter 44
Chapter 44
Venus POV
As soon as the class was over, I rushed out and walked through the corridor to my locker. How was this possible? This bloody back and forth was irritating me as hell Not to speak of my emotions, which were all over the place.
Aaron seemed like he was being faithful to me now. It felt like he had finally broken up with Vicky and was making an effort to be with me. But after what happened in the class in front of everyone between him and Vicky, I felt horrible. How many chances was I going to give him?
When I couldn’t take the pain of his blatant flirting and open love towards Vicky, I ran out of the school towards the woods and let out a frustrated cry.
“Venus?” I heard a gentle voice behind me. I snapped my head to see who it was. Nathan standing there.
Wiping my tears, I took a deep breath in “What do you want?” I grated.
He sat down beside me on a stump. “I’m sorry about how Aaron is behaving with you. You don’t deserve this behavior.”
Haughed dryly. “So even you’ve noticed?”
Nathan lowered his head to his lap. “Everyone has noticed, but no one has the guts to say anything.” He looked at me and said, “There’s something I wanted to tell you, I don’t know if it makes sense or not, but I thought I’d say it, nonetheless.”
I frowned as I gazed at him with irritation, “But why have you come here? Shouldn’t you be with Vicky? I saw your pictures with her on social media.”
Nathan clenched his jaw “Venus, it’s–He took a ragged breath in. “I don’t know how to explain, but I used to feel deeply for Vicky. Like she was my mate, like she was my world. However, lately, I feel nothing for her. Like what I sensed earlier was plain stupidity.”
My irritation turned to curiosity. “What do you mean? I asked, getting up and leaning against a tree.
He licked his lips and chuckled. “The attraction i felt for Vicky was strange. It was like she was my mate and hated that she was Aaron’s mate. But lately the attraction for Vicky has simply wanished, and honestly, it is bizarre. Instead, I feel”
“Nathan!” a soft voice punctuated our conversation. I saw a lovely, cuddly redhead walking towards her. She had light brown eyes that beamed when she looked at Nathan. When she came to him, he got up and pulled her into a tight hug, kissing her passionately, surprising me to the core.
Jealousy sparked in me because this was the relationship I craved between Aaron and me. But wait. “Who is she?” I asked, bewildered.
Nathan pulled away from her while maintaining his hold on her waist. “Venus, meet Ginger, my mate.”
“Hi” Ginger grinned.
My eyes widened like saucers. “Your mate? B–but didn’t you just say that Vicky was your m—”
Nathan cut me off, looking scared. “No! I said nothing about Vicky”
Ginger laughed at the two of us. She extended her hand towards me and I took it. She shook it warmly. “it’s nice to meet you, Venus. Finally.”
Her hand was warm, she had a sunny persona, and she looked super cute and friendly, so I liked her right away. “Hi! Do I know you?”
She chuckled. “No, I am from Green Lake pack. Nathan’s mom is from that pack and we finally met when his family came to meet his aunt and uncle a week ago. The moment we saw each other this time, we knew we were mates.”
Oh My Goddess!” I rasped.
Nathan shrugged as he blushed slightly while Ginger giggled. “Yes, ever since we smelled each other as mates, it has become difficult to stay apart. So f decided that I’ll take admission in the saree school as him.”

Chapter 44
“That’s awesome!” I chirped and turned to Nathan. “I am so happy for you,” I said with a smile. At least he was out of Vicky’s clutches. And that name brought me back to where I started. Misery.
“So, can we talk?” Nathan said, studying my face.
“Sure!” I replied as I glanced at Ginger to see if she would be uncomfortable.
As if understanding the tension, Ginger waved it off. “Don’t worry, I know Vicky is a bitch. I’ve been hearing so much about her lately, and after what happened with Nathan, I just know she’s gonna get it from me one day.”
I chuckled at Ginger’s enthusiasm and I–don’t–care attitude. She and I were going to be great friends.
Nathan sighed in relief. He pressed a kiss on her temple and continued, “The strange attraction that I used to feel towards Vicky has turned into repulsion. Like I can’t stand her. It could be because I found my mate, but the weird part is that I visited my mom’s pack last month as well and I met Ginger, but didn’t recognize her as my mate. Ginger says that she had an inkling that I was her mate, but she wasn’t sure, I felt a strange pull towards her, but kept denying that I had any feelings for her. However, a month later, we are both sure. So, my question is, how is it possible? I mean, what happened in a month that things turned 180 degrees?”
His words made sense and then did not. “What are you insinuating?” I asked, crossing my arms across my chest.
He scratched his head. “I don’t know… All I can say is that if my pull towards Vicky disappeared so quickly, then maybe we have hope for Aaron?”
My eyebrows shot to the hairline. “You mean Vicky isn’t Aaron’s mate?” I shook my head at the ludicrous thought. “Nathan, Vicky is his mate. Can’t you see how he goes back to her all the time?”
He pursed his lips. “Maybe…”
Ginger interjected, “Don’t think so much about this situation. I know what Aaron did when he saw Vicky in the class.” She caught my hand. “I’m with you on this and I hope Vicky burns in hell.”
I laughed at her direct approach to life.
“Now come on,” she said. “We’ve got tickets for a hockey match between humans and werewolves in the nearby human town. And you are coming with
us.”
“I have a class!” I giggled.
“No, you have to put distance between you and Aaron,” she said, tugging my sleeve. “I hate to see that manipulative bitch manipulating you. And you need a change.”
Goddess. I needed a change so badly.
So on an impulse I climbed Nathan’s jeep and went to watch the match. We reached the human town in two hours, just before the match started. Nathan had taken front row tickets. Just as we sat, a commotion started.
“Whoa! Who’s that stunning blonde?” a boy shouted from behind.
“Guys, I’m in trouble!” another declared.
I whipped my head towards them and found them staring at me. Blush crept on my cheeks.
“Hey sunshine–what do you do when you’re not busy being beautiful?”
Another hollered, “Boys, she caught my attention the second she walked in. Consider her as your sister–in–law.”
“Shut up,
Inker. She’s clearly out of your league!”
Ginger laughed, shaking her head, and whispered, “Don’t mind them.”
