Chapter 86
Venus POV
The fight between Aaron and Danny was fierce, and I could feel the tension in the air as I stayed close to Eric and Nicole. Even Danny was struggling against Aaron’s powerful assault. Aaron moved with speed. Every swipe, every claw strike filled with the weight of his anger and pain. Danny shared and slashed back, but he couldn’t match Aaron’s fury.
Aaron had waited a long time for this moment. I could see it in the way his wolf’s strikes landed at the places where it hurt the most. Danny’s wolf tried to fight back, but his movements became slower, more desperate.
While Aaron dealt with Danny, I was focused on the fox shifters that dared to come close to Eric and Nicole.
Eric dropped to his knees in front of her, his hands trembling as he reached for the ropes. His claws extended, and he tore through the bindings in seconds, not caring how thick or strong they were. She stirred, her eyes fluttering open.
“Eric?” she whispered, her voice weak.
“I’ve got you,” he said softly, his voice shaking with relief. “Nicole,” he whispered, his voice softer now as he gently caught her before she could fall.
She slumped against him, her body weak and her head resting against his chest. He cradled her carefully, holding her as if she might break. His fingers brushed against her face, pushing a strand of hair away.
“Nicole, wake up,” he urged, his voice filled with worry.
Her eyelids fluttered faintly, and she let out a soft whisper. “Eric?” He was carefully carrying her back toward the group, his movements protective and gentle. But the fox shifters weren’t done yet.
Two of them rushed toward Eric, their sharp claws glinting in the moonlight. I didn’t hesitate. Enraged, I stepped in their path, my wolf taking over.
The first fox lunged at me, but I sidestepped quickly and swiped my claws across its side. It yelped in pain but didn’t stop, turning to face me again. The second fox tried to circle around me, but I kept my movements sharp, blocking their path to Eric.
I leapt at the first fox, knocking it to the ground. It tried to claw at me, but I was faster. I pinned it down and snarled, my teeth bared. One swift bite, and it stopped moving.
The second fox hesitated, clearly rethinking its choices. But when it glanced at Eric, who was still focused on Nicole, it decided to try its luck. I threw myself between the fox and Eric.
The fox growled and lunged at me, but I met it head–on. My claws slashed through its shoulder, and it stumbled. Before it could recover, I grabbed it by the neck and ended the fight.
I turned back to Eric, who had reached a safe distance with Nicolè. He looked at me and gave a small nod of thanks, his expression grim but determined. Even as he held her, his senses stayed sharp. He listened for any movement behind him, ready to defend her if another attack came. The fight wasn’t over yet, but at that moment, Eric didn’t care about anything else.
Then I turned my attention to Aaron and saw that he was still in a fierce battle with Danny in their wolf forms.
However, Aaron shifted when Danny shifted and glared at him all bloodied up. Aaron growled, his voice low and menacing. “You won’t hurt anyone else again.”
Danny lunged at him, shifting midair with his claws extended, but Aaron dodged easily and countered with a powerful blow to Danny’s side. Danny‘ stumbled, letting out a sharp yelp.
Aaron didn’t let up. He tackled Danny to the ground, pinning him down. Danny struggled, snapping his jaws and thrashing beneath Aaron’s weight, but Aaron was too strong. He raised his claws, his expression fierce and determined.
“This ends now,” Aaron said, his voice steady.

Chapter 86
With one swift motion, Aaron struck. His claws found their mark when he plunged the in his throat, and Danny’s struggles ceased. Tha fecar quiet, the fight between everyone pausing.
Danny’s lifeless body lay beneath Aaron, and Aaron rose slowly, breathing heavily.

“You’re next,” Aaron growled, his voice deadly calm.
Lexi and Ethan didn’t wait to find out if he meant it. They turned and bolted, disappearing into the forest with a few surviving fox shifters trailing behind them. Aaron let out a frustrated growl, but he didn’t chase them. His priority was here, with us.
Aaron joined us a moment later, his breathing heavy but his eyes sharp. He looked at me, then at Eric and Nicole, before his gaze shifted back to Danny’s lifeless body. He wanted to run after Lexi and Ethan.
“Let them go for now,” Martin commanded. “We have Nicole. That’s what matters.”
As the remaining foxes retreated, the clearing fell silent. Aaron came to me, his body covered with blood as deep gashes sliced his skin. I felt a pang of pain through our bond and I couldn’t help but pull him in my embrace. “He’s gone…” Aaron whispered as he kissed my temple. It felt like we had exorcised the ghosts of our past. Ever since Vicky’s betrayal, he had been plagued with fire of revenge. It burned inside him. It was like a festering wound. Killing Danny was his life’s agenda. And I could feel it every day.
“Yes, he’s gone,” I replied. I wanted him to be more assured of what he did. But I knew that he had done it for me. I didn’t know what we were going to do now that the main threat was over, but we both felt a sense of relief. Like something heavy had lifted from our shoulders. Maybe we would celebrate.
We knew that foxes were still going to lurk in the dark, but for now they were without a leader. Danny was dead, and we didn’t know of his relationship with Ethan or Lexi. Maybe they would come back. Well, we were better equipped than before.
I saw that Eric cradled Nicole in his arms, his expression a mixture of relief and guilt.
Aaron walked over to Alpha Martin with me, his breathing heavy. “This was just the beginning. Foxes aren’t done.”
Alpha Martin nodded grimly. “Then we’ll be ready. Whatever they’re planning, we’ll stop them.”
I looked around the clearing, my heart heavy. This fight wasn’t over, but for now, we had Nicole. That was enough. Eric had Nicole, and that was the only thing that mattered.
As the warriors began to secure the area, Martin walked over to Danny’s body. His eyes narrowed, and he seemed to be piecing something together. After a moment, he turned back to us. “Aaron, find out everything about Lexi,” he said, his voice heavy with meaning. “I want every detail! And all of you are coming with me back to the Oak Pride pack for now. Until this place is secure and scoured by my warriors, you all will stay there.”
