Chapter 7
Lucia really knew how to play her cards well. Now that the person who lost the money wasn’t pursuing the matter, I had no reason to call the police.
I couldn’t be bothered to argue with them anymore. I went upstairs, had Marcus process my resignation paperwork, and then left with Henry.
On the way, Henry asked me, “Do you want me to terminate all our partnerships with them?”
I shook my head, “Help me investigate the biological relationship between Morris and Marcus. If they’re not related, I’ll consider it my final act of mercy toward him. If they are, then wait for my signal.”
“Okay.”
“By the way, do you still stand by what you said last night?”
I looked at him suspiciously, “What? What did I say?”
“You really don’t remember anything?”
Seeing my completely confused expression, his face turned melancholy, but he didn’t say anything more.
Three days later, Henry came to see me with a report.
Although I had mentally prepared myself, my hands still trembled as I opened it.
When I saw the confirmed father–son relationship, tears fell from my eyes.
Lucia had become pregnant with Morris when I was two months pregnant.
All these years, I had suspected they might have maintained a connection, but I always told myself that unless I saw it with my own eyes, it was just my imagination.

I never imagined he would father another child with his ex–wife while I was pregnant.
No wonder he was so anxious to find Lucia, who was also pregnant, when he abandoned me
on the highway.
I had never understood why he cared so much about her pregnancy if the child belonged to
someone else.
Now I knew–because that child was his!
I was so furious that my teeth chattered as I trembled with rage.
Henry quickly pulled me into his arms to comfort me.
“Georgina, don’t cry. You still have me, and your parents. We all love you very much. We’ll definitely help you get revenge.”
It took a long time before I pulled myself away from his embrace.
Noticing that my tears had soaked his shirt, I laughed and punched him playfully, “Your shoulder is quite comfortable to lean on. If only you liked women, maybe I would have ended up with you if you pursued me, and wouldn’t have been hurt like this.”
After joking around, I calmed down.
Henry’s phone suddenly rang. It was Marcus calling.

After answering, Marcus spoke very politely, “Mr. Leedon, I heard you’ve secured development rights for another piece of land. I’m wondering if we’ll still be partnering on this project?”
Henry looked at me, and I quickly mouthed for him to agree.
Though he seemed confused, he did as I asked.
“Yes, we can. Come to my company’s project department tomorrow to discuss the details.”
After hanging up, he asked me, “If we give this project to them, they’ll reach a new level,

and going public will become easier.”

I snorted coldly, “That’s exactly why we want to accelerate his progress. Without causing you any losses, give him as many projects as possible. I also have information on other clients currently working with his company. See if you can give them a heads–up.”
“Why do you want to do this?”
“Heh, because the higher they climb, the harder they fall.‘
“He no longer deserves one last chance from me.”
In the days that followed, Marcus and Lucia’s reality show filming went smoothly. The public interest kept growing, and Lucia was thrust into the spotlight.
Much of this was my doing. I spent a lot of money buying trending topics for her and having the media hype things up.
Because I wanted to see what they would look like when they both came crashing down.
