Chapter 009
Jesse paced the hallway outside Aiden’s room, his footsteps echoing sharply against the cold tiles. His brows were drawn tight with worry. Normally, the medication worked within minutes. But now, twelve hours had passed, and the room behind him
remained silent.
He paused, ears straining for any sound, then slowly pushed the door open.
Aiden lay motionless on the bed, his breathing soft but steady. The tension in Jesse’s shoulders eased slightly.
Then, Aiden’s eyes fluttered open.
He blinked several times, adjusting to the dim light as if trying to make sense of his surroundings. His chest rose and fell in a tired rhythm as he looked up at the ceiling. One hand moved weakly, pressing against his chest as if to confirm he was still alive.
A shaky sigh slipped from his lips.
He sat up carefully, groaning quietly at the stiffness in his body. His head leaned back for a second before falling forward again. His fingers curled into his blanket as memories from the night before rushed in.
The party. The kiss.
How he had called that lady his woman In front of everyone.
But more importantly, his body hadn’t reacted to her touch at all. Not even the smallest itch or sting. No chest tightening. No
blurring of vision. Nothing.
“You’re awake,” Jesse said, breaking the silence. He quickly stepped closer, his voice full of worry.
Aiden didn’t reply at first. He glanced at Jesse briefly, his face unreadable, then looked down at his hands resting on his lap.
The memory played over and over in his head. He had kissed her, and nothing happened.
But when the cook accidentally brushed against him, he had nearly died.
“Why didn’t you react when Miss Alina touched you last night?” Jesse asked, clearly confused.
Aiden looked up at him again, his brows slightly furrowed.
He’d been wondering the same thing since he woke up. It didn’t make sense. His condition was clear and consistent…any physical
contact with women caused dangerous allergic reactions. It had always been that way.
He was used to keeping his distance from women. For years, even the smallest contact could trigger a severe allergic reaction. His doctors called it a rare mix of stress-induced allergic response and psychological triggers. But Alina… she had touched him, and
his body had stayed calm. Even when he kissed her, his pulse had remained steady.
He should have felt the warning signs, but instead, he had felt calm.

Something was different about her.
“Bring her here.” Aiden said firmly,. “I need to confirm something.”
Jesse didn’t move right away. He hesitated, raising his hand a little. “You’re still recovering,” he said, clearly worried. “You
shouldn’t be alone.”
Aiden’s eyes narrowed at him. His expression didn’t need words, Jesse immediately understood.
“I’ll go now,” Jesse said quickly, already heading for the door.
Once he was gone, Aiden leaned back against the headboard. His chest still hurt, but his mind was wide awake. He stared at the ceiling, trying to make sense of everything. His heartbeat was steady, but his thoughts were racing.
He wasn’t sure what Alina was or how she had done it, but he needed answers, and he needed them now.
What made her different?
And what if the answer to his condition… started with her?

Already dressed, Alina stepped out of her room and nearly jumped out of her skin.
“Why are you standing there like a ghost?” she muttered, hand pressed to her chest. “You scared me.”
“I was worried,” Lorraine said. “You stormed into your room last night. I thought I upset you.”
“You did,” Alina replied bluntly, brushing past her and heading to the couch. She glanced around.
“Looking for this?” Lorraine asked, holding up Alina’s phone.
Before Alina could answer, the doorbell rang.
“Are you expecting someone?” Lorraine asked.
Alina shook her head. “No.”
“What if it’s Mr. Blackwood?”
“It’s probably not,” Alina said, walking to the door. But when she opened it, Aiden Blackwood’s assistant was there.
She blinked in surprise.
“Mr. Blackwood requests your presence immediately,” he said.
“But I-”
“Please come with me, Miss,” he interrupted gently.
Alina hesitated, then sighed. “Alright. Just… give me a few minutes.” She closed the door and turned back to Lorraine.

“You should go,” Lorraine said with a smirk. “After all, you are his girlfriend… for the week.”
Before Alina could respond, Lorraine dragged her into the bedroom.
“What are you doing?”
“Getting you ready. Who knows? You might end up Mrs. Blackwood,” she teased, holding up a sleek, black dress.
“I’m not wearing that.”
“Just wear it.” Lorraine shoved it into her hands and reached for lipstick.
“You should look your best,” she added, dabbing Alina’s lips before she could protest. “His family might be there.”
Alina stood still and let her do her thing. After all, this would all be over in a week.
A few minutes later, they stepped outside. Jesse was still waiting by the car.
“She’s ready,” Lorraine announced proudly.
Jesse looked at Alina, clearly stunned.
“Are we going?” Lorraine nudged him, snapping him out of it
“Right,” he said, clearing his throat and opening the door.

Lorraine leaned in toward Alina and whispered, “Don’t disappoint me. Make him fall for you. He won’t know what hit him.”
Alina rolled her eyes and got into the car, giving a small wave as it drove off.
The car pulled to a stop in front of a grand mansion. As Jesse opened the door, Alina’s lips parted in awe.
The place looked like something from a magazine; tall pillars, shiny windows, and flawless design. It was the most beautiful house
she had ever seen.
“This way,” Jesse said, and Alina followed quietly.
Inside, the mansion was just as grand. Aiden sat on the couch, dressed sharply, scrolling through his phone.
“We’re here, sir,” Jesse announced.
Aiden looked up and froze when he saw her.
He stared at her for a moment before standing and walking over.
“You summoned me without heads-up,” Alina said, trying to sound calm.
“I needed to confirm something,” he said, stopping just in front of her, bending slightly to meet her eyes.

His closeness made her instinctively step back.
“Aiden…”
They both turned towards the voice to see an older woman entering the room in a hurry.
“Grandma?” Aiden stepped away from Alina, surprised.
The woman’s gaze shifted to Alina, and her eyebrows lifted slightly.
Alina immediately caught on.
“Oh my God,” she said, eyes wide. “Why didn’t you tell me your grandma was this stunning? She looks like she’s barely older than
you!”
“And you didn’t mention she was visiting,” Alina added, glancing at Aiden with mock accusation. “I would’ve brought a gift.”
With a warm smile, Alina stepped forward toward the woman.
“And you are?” the woman asked.
“She’s… my girlfriend,” Aiden interrupted.
But his grandmother didn’t look convinced. She knew Aiden too well, especially when it came to his relationship with women.
Then, Alina did something unexpected.
She walked back to Aiden and gently took his hand.
Everyone in the room went still…including Aiden himself.
He didn’t flinch. He didn’t pull away. He simply stood there, letting her hold his hand.
Grandma’s eyes narrowed in confusion. “How… how is he fine?” she muttered.
Alina looked at her, puzzled. “What do you mean?”
But the woman didn’t answer. Instead, she stared at their joined hands as if trying to make sense of something.
Even Aiden looked down, surprised at his own reaction.
He hadn’t felt anything unusual.
For the first time in a long while, he didn’t feel the familiar discomfort that usually came with a woman’s touch.
He looked up at Alina, brows furrowed. “What are you?”
