Chapter 3
After everyone left, I carried my groceries to the house across from the Hart estate.
Inside, a man was on a video conference call.
When he saw me enter, he muted himself and smiled, taking the basket from my hands.
“I told you to wait until I finished so we could go together. Are you tired?”
I shook my head and followed him into the kitchen.
“I went shopping and took some photos for content. You cook, I shop–fair deal.”
The man suddenly stopped walking, and I crashed right into his back, totally caught off guard.
He turned around, bending down to pinch my nose playfully.
“Little troublemaker, when have you ever cooked in this house?”
“I heard some commotion outside. Did something happen?”
Remembering what had just occurred, I made a face.
“Julian showed up, said he wanted to take me back. I put him in his place.”
At my words, the man frowned slightly. “That boy… Good for you for standing up to him. He needs to learn his
lesson.”
I looked at him with raised eyebrows.
That’s it?
He smiled softly, suddenly lifting me up and carrying me toward the bedroom.
“I know all about your history with him. And while I might be a bit jealous, having you by my side now is what
matters most.”
As he spoke, his lips were already approaching mine.
His kiss was passionate and fiery, melting me bit by bit, making me lose myself in his embrace.
I next saw Julian a month later at Riley’s engagement party.
Riley was my best friend, and she had specifically come to the countryside to invite me.
Unable to resist her pleading, I reluctantly agreed.
Running into Julian and Eliza was expected.

Chapter 3
When Riley spotted them, she pulled me behind her like a mother hen protecting her chick, letting her fiancé Aiden handle the greetings.
She then dragged me to a quiet corner.
“Cassidy, I’m so sorry! I completely forgot they’d be here too.”
I shook my head with a smile.
After spending so many years with the Hart family, our social circles naturally overlapped.
Their presence was to be expected.
“It’s fine, I’ve moved on,” I reassured her. “Besides, I’m married now.”
Riley stared at me in shock. “You’re WHAT? When did this happen? Why didn’t I know?!”
“Six months ago.”
Riley examined my face for a long moment, then broke into a wide smile.
“I knew it! A girl like you would never hang onto a crooked tree like Julian Hart.”
“That’s more like it! Who needs Julian Hart anyway?”
As she spoke, her eyes welled up with tears.
I knew she was happy for me.
When Eliza first appeared, Riley had constantly advised me to let go.
But I couldn’t. I was determined to crash against that wall until it broke me.
Now, I had finally let go.
After her tears subsided, she glared at me. “So why didn’t you bring your husband for me to meet? Or don’t you consider me your bestie anymore?”
“He’s on a business trip,” I smiled apologetically. “He’ll be back tonight.”
“Next time, we’ll have dinner together, my treat.”
Riley nodded in satisfaction.
Suddenly, she pulled me into the center of the crowd and grabbed a microphone, drawing everyone’s attention.
With a radiant smile, she announced, “Everyone, I have more exciting news to share today!”
She pulled me beside her and proudly introduced me.
“This is my best friend, Cassidy Pierce. She’s married! Let’s all congratulate her!”

Chapter 3
As her words sank in, the room fell silent.
Most of the attendees at the engagement party were from our social circle. So many knew that Cassidy Pierce was
the fiancée of Julian Hart, the Hart family’s heir.
But no one had heard that Julian had gotten married.
Riley looked around mischievously. “What’s wrong? Aren’t you happy for my bestie?”
The guests snapped out of their surprise and began offering congratulations.
“Of course we’re happy! Congratulations, congratulations!”
“Wishing you a lifetime of happiness and beautiful children!”
Throughout the chorus of well–wishes, I maintained a gentle smile and nod.
It was at this moment that Eliza approached me.
She held a champagne flute, looking at me with concern.
“Cassidy, you’ve been living in the countryside for two years. This sudden marriage… are you being tricked by someone? I know you’re still angry about Julian sending you away, but he truly meant it for your own good.”
“You’re young, please don’t make rash decisions out of spite. Marriage is a serious matter that requires careful
consideration.”
“Eliza, don’t you think you’re overstepping?” I interrupted her. “Even if I married a pig, it would be none of your
business.”
I truly detested her.
She clearly disliked me yet always pretended to care about my wellbeing.
This was how she behaved at the Hart estate too.
Gradually, I became the person everyone in the Hart household disliked.
While she became known for her kindness and understanding.
I’d seen this act too many times to find it anything but tiresome.
Interrupted, Eliza’s eyes immediately welled with tears.
And right on cue, Julian appeared behind her.
