Chapter 11
We didn’t have a wedding yet–my parents rushed me to get the marriage certificate with Alexander first, as if afraid I might change my mind.
I was completely honest with Alexander about my relationship with Ryan.
After hearing everything, Alexander gently traced the faint red scar on my wrist and placed a tender kiss on it.
“I’ll handle the surveillance footage issue. Don’t worry about it. When your wrist has completely healed, I’ll take you to choose a wedding dress.”
I nodded, watching Alexander enthusiastically preparing for our engagement party.
For the past six years, I had revolved around Ryan’s life. Now, having cut ties with him completely, I felt weightless, as if a burden had been lifted.
Seeing Alexander personally selecting venues, air–shipping various flowers, handwriting invitations, and hiring professional teams to design my wedding look, I finally understood what it meant to be truly loved.
I realized that love should be mutual–not one person taking while the other endlessly gives. I had given Ryan enough during those six years. Now it was time for a healthy, positive relationship.
No–what Alexander and I had was even stronger: a marriage.
A few days later, Alexander told me he had cleared my name regarding the surveillance footage.
Everyone at the company now knew that Chloe had staged the entire incident to force me out. The day the surveillance video was released, Chloe was taken in by the police for defamation, and Alexander immediately removed her from her position as Technical Director.
Of course, Alexander didn’t let Ryan get away with slapping me either.
As my fiancé, he demanded compensation from Ryan. The amount wasn’t important–what mattered was making Ryan suffer by publicly exposing our relationship to the entire company.
When Alexander told me about this, he looked nervous, as if worried about my reaction. “Does what I did make you uncomfortable?”
I smiled quickly. “This is the first time I’ve felt what it’s like to have someone stand up for me. It feels wonderful!”
Alexander’s lips curved into a smile, his eyebrows softening as joy filled his eyes.
