Chapter 10
The further I scrolled through their dirty little sexts, the sicker I felt.
I wanted to smash that phone into his face and scream, Why the hell would you do this to me?
But I didn’t.
I stayed calm. Picked up his phone.
Called his mom.
‘Hi, Mrs. Evans. Yeah, I’m not showing up to the wedding tomorrow.”
She was groggy, half asleep.
But those words woke her up fast.
‘Sophia? What’s going on? Why do you have Liam’s phone?”
‘He said he went out for drinks.”
‘Oh? Did he tell you who he was drinking with?”
She hesitated. Her voice dipped.
“Um… he mentioned Alex…”
I let out a cold laugh.
The night before our wedding, and your son’s out drinking with his girl bestie.
And that doesn’t raise any red flags?
I didn’t feel like dancing around it anymore.
“He cheated, Mrs. Evans. I caught him in bed with Alex. Literally.”
“Wedding’s off. Go find yourself a new daughter–in–law.”
She freaked.
“Sophia, honey, maybe… maybe it was just a misunderstanding?”
“Maybe they passed out drunk or something?”
I had her on speaker.
Everyone in the room heard her nonsense.
My best friend snapped, “Misunderstanding my ass. They were literally playing naked Twister when we walked in”

“Stop trying to defend your loser son. He’s garbage.”
I couldn’t help but laugh.
“The wedding’s off, and none of this is on me.”
“However you want to explain it to your friends, that’s your problem.”
“My parents are here too, ma’am.”
“I won’t say anything more, but yeah–guess Alex is next in line. That should make things easier.”
I hung up.
Tossed Liam’s phone back on the bed.
Slapped him a few more times.
Then I walked out with my crew.
