Chapter 6
Her name was Alex.
She was Liam’s one and only long–term female friend–basically his childhood buddy.
I never liked how close they were.
But Liam swore up and down that she was like one of the guys.
Said she was basically a dude in his eyes.
Said she was into women, not men.
I wanted to believe him.
He brought me to a few group hangouts–and yeah, Alex played the part.
Short buzzcut.
Baggy T–shirts, basketball shorts.
Talked like a frat bro.
Loud, crude, swore like a sailor.
When Liam introduced me, she wrapped an arm around my shoulders and said-
‘So you’re the girlfriend? Damn, no wonder Liam’s been hiding you–he knew I’d fall in love with you at first sight!”
I flinched. Her energy was overwhelming.
Liam had to step in.
‘Back off, man! That’s my fiancée.”
I gave him a look.
‘Liam, she’s still a woman. Maybe don’t call her ‘man‘?”
He rubbed his nose awkwardly.
Alex just laughed.
‘Oh, I don’t care. I cuss Liam out way worse on the regular.”
Then she turned to me with a pout.
‘You’re so sweet and pretty. God, I’m obsessed.
Liam, you lucky bastard.”

Chapter 6
She asked for my number.
Said she was sick of being around “smelly dudes” all the time.
Said I was a breath of fresh air.
Honestly?
She seemed cool.
Flirty, sure, but with women.
I let my guard down.
When she and Liam went out to eat or hung out,
I’d get a little jealous,
But never truly suspicious.
Now?
Now it felt like someone slapped the stupid out of me.
Hard.
The same Alex who said she loved women,
The same Liam who called her “basically a guy,”
Had just had sex in that bed-
My bed.
The one we were supposed to share after our vows.
I stood there, stunned and weirdly calm.
Alex, still wrapped in the blanket, looked like she might throw up.
Probably didn’t expect me to be the one standing at the door.
“So you two are dating now?” I asked, smiling like I was watching a rom–com trainwreck.
“Cool. So where does that leave me, huh?”
“I could’ve sworn Liam asked you to wear a tux tomorrow–be one of his groomsmen?”
I paused.
“Forget it. You want the spotlight that bad?
You can have the wedding.

I’ll even let you wear the dress.”
