Chapter 6

“Mr… Mr. Johnson…” The pregnant woman who’d been shouting suddenly stammered.

People around whispered about Larry.

Sole heir of the Dallas Johnson dynasty. Took over at twenty-five, tripled the Johnson Group’s market value in three

years.

Ruthless in business, conceding nothing at negotiations.

Even the oldest families in Los Angeles addressed him respectfully as “Mr. Johnson.”

Yet just a month ago, he’d publicly announced a vasectomy, crushing all alliance hopes.

Everyone thought he’d lost his mind.

Who would inherit the Johnson family’s century-old legacy?

Larry took off his coat and scooped me up, covered in blood.

“Get the helicopter ready. We’re heading to Switzerland,” he uttered his first words of the day.

Everyone around us sprang into action.

Arranging the jet, contacting medical teams, clearing the area in seconds.

I opened my mouth to speak.

Larry leaned close, reading my thoughts:

“The sole heir of the Johnson family can never be too protected.”

My eyes widened, heart skipping a beat.

Suddenly I remembered his text message.

Promising that if I agreed, the child in my womb would become his only heir.

Every word was true.

Elijah was comforting a sobbing Katia when his butler’s text made his heart stop.

【The Heiress Is Missing]

Katia pouted coquettishly:

my sister a proper wedding?”

Elijah remained silent.

He recalled the scene from his birthday banquet seven days prior.

Sophia stood ghostly pale, vacant eyes fixed on Mrs. Williams’ torn belongings.

In that moment, he’d clearly seen agony in her gaze.

Yet when Katia suddenly “stumbled”, he’d rushed to catch her-ignoring Sophia.

Seven full days passed without contact.

Whenever he picked up his phone, Katia’s words echoed:

uat cager to give

“A relationship is like flying a kite-pull too tight and it slips away. Time to give her the cold shoulder so she knows your worth.”

He’d assumed Sophia would come running back as before.

When he returned, he’d coax her with sweet words, and she’d laughingly throw herself into his arms.

But now, she was gone.

No one knew where she’d disappeared to.

The hospital froze the sub-card, and the villa was empty.

His assistant said she hadn’t been back to the company for ages-even her closest friends couldn’t reach her.

“Since your father married your mother, securing your place as the second daughter of Williams Group, you’re no longer an illegitimate child. Besides, your mother now holds all of Mrs. Williams’s assets tightly. No one will ever bully you again.”

Elijah stared at her, each word deliberate,

“But what about Sophia? She has nothing left now. I’m marrying her.”

Katia’s face turned deathly pale, tears instantly flooding her eyes: “Elijah, it’s not about the money. I just can’t bear to lose you…”

Elijah laughed coldly.

“Can’t bear to part with me? Then have your father cancel the stock sale in three days and return all of Mrs. Williams’ assets to Sophia!”

Katia snapped her mouth shut, fingers unconsciously twisting her skirt.
