Georgette’s POV
The Rodgers’s financial situation had already been rocky, and after the scandal, things only got worse.
Jerry’s father was livid. He hated Beatrice and her mother with a passion. He even took legal action against all the families involved.
Soon after, several people who had joined Beatrice in spreading false accusations were arrested and sentenced for defamation and slander.
I heard Jerry even went to beg his father to let Beatrice off the hook.
But that almost gave the old man a stroke. In the end, Jerry was kicked out of the family. altogether. His father had given up on him completely.
As for Beatrice and her mother, they’d been scheming from the start. They deliberately exposed my identity as a well–known heiress in the capital to those grieving families, hoping to extort a large sum of money from me.
What they didn’t expect was that all of them would end up behind bars instead.
Beatrice and her mother were each sentenced to more than five years in prison. Those who blindly followed their lead got around three years.
Not only did they fail to get a dime out of me, they also got jail time.
So of course, no one in prison was going to treat Beatrice kindly.
Soon, word got around that she and her mother were beaten constantly.
Beatrice kept trying to reach Jerry, begging him to save her. But at that point, Jerry couldn’t even help himself.
After being kicked out of the house, he had nothing left. Their family business collapsed, and management was handed over to his younger brother.
In a shameless move, the Rodgers even tried to push his brother into marrying me instead, thinking it might fix things. But I firmly shut that down.
Since my family officially severed all ties with them, their stock value plummeted, and the company’s market cap shrank by over 70%.
When Jerry’s younger brother found out this entire mess had started because of him, he immediately issued a family–wide order not to help him. No job offers. No handouts. Not even a single coin.
In the end, Jerry had no choice but to take on grueling labor at a construction site.
As for Beatrice, he didn’t even dare acknowledge her anymore.
A few months later, I happened to see his name mentioned in a domestic news report.
Jerry had fallen from a high place while working at the construction site. He was pronounced dead on the way to the hospital.
When his family heard the news, no one reacted, not even a whisper of grief.

Only his father made a single phone call.
That same night, word came from the prison that Beatrice and her mother had been beaten so badly that they died on the way to the hospital.
When I heard the news, I simply gave a cold smile.
There was no way Jerry’s father would ever let the two people who ruined his family walk away unpunished.
As for me, I’d stopped paying attention to what was happening back home. I had already thrown myself fully into my work and moved on.
