Chapter 1
One month before the divorce, Sonia Coleman made a mysterious phone call.
“I’ve made up my mind. I agree to become the NSA’s Chief Al Security Advisor. I can start the position in a month.”
Two weeks before the divorce, she mailed the divorce papers to Conrad Fairfax.
The day before the divorce, she took nothing with her. A group of black–suited bodyguards escorted her away.
She knew that from that moment on, she and Conrad would never see each other again.
After their first child died unexpectedly shortly after birth, she endured six years of marriage
without sex or love.
However, Sonia unexpectedly spotted her husband with a seductive woman at a hotel. The child they held between them was calling her husband “Daddy.”
In that moment, she finally woke up.
While she remained oblivious, he had already built another family.
Since that was his choice, she set him free.
But the moment she vanished completely from his world, Conrad lost his mind.
She thought he would walk down the aisle with that woman he couldn’t forget.
She never expected-
That man who always stood above everyone else, who controlled everything, appeared before the media cameras with red–rimmed eyes. His voice trembled, almost pleading:
“I didn’t cheat, and I don’t have any illegitimate children. I just have a… wife who left me. Her name is Sonia Coleman. I miss her very much.”

“I’m begging her to come back and look at me and our child just once more.”
“I’ve made up my mind. I agree to become the NSA’s Chief AI Security Advisor. I can start in a
month. But I have one condition.”
The late autumn wind carried a biting chill. Sonia stood in the stairwell, clutching a divorce agreement in her hand.
The voice on the other end paused, then erupted with joy: “That’s wonderful, Sonia! You’ve finally come around! I thought you’d pass on this opportunity again! We and the people of this country need you!”
“However… the NSA’s situation is extremely sensitive. We’ll need to erase parts of your identity and provide you with constant protection. Have you discussed this with your husband?”
“No need to discuss it. I can make my own decisions.”
Upon hearing the word “husband,” a flash of pain crossed Sonia’s eyes, but it was quickly replaced
by a calm expression.
Once she disappeared completely from their world, maybe nothing could be stolen from her
anymore.
After hanging up, Sonia was about to return to her office when she encountered Conrad with the fashionably dressed Diana Eaton and a little boy.
She froze.
The scene before her looked like a perfect family portrait.
Diana walked beside Conrad while the boy held their hands, his face glowing with happiness.
The sight pierced Sonia’s heart.
Once, she should have had a child too.
If that child hadn’t died unexpectedly shortly after birth, would Conrad’s tenderness and patience

now belong to her instead?
Sonia shook her head with a bitter smile. It was all wishful thinking.
Conrad hated her.
Diana was Conrad’s first love. Sonia only learned about their past relationship through Conrad’s
grandmother after their marriage.
To Conrad, she was a scheming woman who had stolen him away from Diana.
He would never know that she had actually known him before Diana did–he just didn’t remember.
She had thought that getting married might help him remember those sweet memories from their
past, and thus make him fall in love with her again.
She was completely wrong.
He hated her.
How could love spring from hatred?
For six years, except for their wedding night when he was drunk and they had sex, he never touched
ner again.
He publicly claimed to be single at every occasion, never acknowledging her existence, as if she were nothing more than an insignificant comment buried in lines of code.
‘Miss Coleman?” Diana nodded politely at her.
Conrad frowned, his gaze sharp, seemingly warning Sonia not to reveal their relationship.
The detachment in his eyes sent another stab of pain through her heart, but she maintained her
composure.
‘Ms. Eaton, Mr. Fairfax, good afternoon.”
Conrad’s handsome face turned cold: “Did you receive the notification?”

Sonia remained silent.
Conrad had recently invested in Sonia’s current workplace–Nova Mind AI Research Group–as an angel investor.
She knew exactly why–not for her, but to secure Díana a leadership position on NM Group’s core
team.
Diana had returned to the country just weeks ago and already became the core team’s leader.
That should have been Sonia’s promotion.
Of course she had received the notification and was prepared to leave–except not by obediently handing over her position as Conrad commanded, but by going somewhere he could never find her.
Before Sonia could answer, Diana linked her arm intimately through Conrad’s and smiled: “Don’t be
so formal, Miss Sutton. You’re a legend in this industry. I still have so much to learn from you.”
Before Sonia could respond, the little boy suddenly tugged at Conrad’s sleeve: “Daddy, I’m tired. Can
you carry me?”
The word “Daddy” hit like thunder.
For a moment, Sonia’s composure cracked completely.
