Chapter 11
Sonia was stunned. She knew he wouldn’t believe her, but his blatant favoritism still stung.
Her eyes welled with tears as she looked at him with a bitter expression. “I didn’t push him at all!”
Conrad laughed. “Are you saying a child of a few years old fell down by himself and then framed
you?”
Sonia’s heart trembled.
Since she knew he wouldn’t believe her, why waste breath explaining…
She lowered her eyes, trying to compose herself. “Running into you all is just my bad luck, okay?”
She turned to leave.
“Stop.”
Sonia paused, then walked away without looking back.
“Caleb is just a child after all. Why make a fuss over it?” Conrad softened his tone. “Apologize to
Caleb.”
“Conrad, it’s okay…” Diana said pitifully.
His gaze was stern. “When you make a mistake, you admit it and apologize.”
Sonia clenched her fingers so tightly her nails nearly dug into her palms, yet she seemed to forget the
pain.
She slowly turned around, looking directly at Conrad, and pointed to the surveillance camera under
a nearby streetlight. “Silverwood Apartments has surveillance cameras everywhere. Could you check the footage first before playing hero?”
“If the surveillance shows I pushed him, I’ll apologize. But if it wasn’t my fault, don’t expect an apology!”

Without another glance at him, Sonia turned and walked away.
Conrad’s chest suddenly tightened, his expression darkening slightly.
The moment Diana heard “surveillance,” she panicked.
She was terrified Conrad might check the security footage. She quickly grabbed his arm. “Conrad, forget it. Caleb isn’t hurt, and I’m sure Miss Coleman didn’t mean it.”
she absolutely couldn’t let Conrad see the surveillance footage, so she quickly changed the subject. ‘Conrad, Caleb is going to be late. Let’s go.”
Conrad pulled his arm free. “I’ve already contacted the principal. Take Caleb over–she’ll arrange everything. I have a meeting.”
He went straight back to his car.
Watching Conrad drive away, Diana unconsciously clenched her hand, forgetting she was still holding Caleb’s.
‘Mommy, it hurts.”
Only then did she realize she was gripping Caleb’s hand tightly.
Diana snapped back to reality, slowly crouched down, and grabbed his shoulders. Her eyes were dark with a hint of satisfaction. “Caleb, you did very well this time. Excellent work.”
